Lian Li Announces the DK-04 Desk-type Case

Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd, today announces the DK-04 computer desk chassis: the first-ever standing computer desk. This chassis offers hardcore enthusiasts design improvements, better drive mounting, extensive water cooling support, and, most importantly: it stands.

Standing desks aren't just fashionable, they're proven to be beneficial and healthy in multiple ways. Lian Li sought to design a new computer desk chassis in this spirit. Users can configure up to four different height settings, from 67.5cm to 116cm, for the desk to automatically adjust to at the press of a button. The DK-04 can serve as a standing desk for work and switch to a sit-down gaming desk in an instant.



Latest Vibration-Dampened Drive Storage and Inputs
With four stacking rubber-isolated drive racks, the DK-04 can mount a total of eight 2.5" or 3.5" drives with vibration dampeners. These racks are easy to install and remove via thumbscrews, and keep drives running quietly and reliably. This desk also includes a 5.25" bay on the front panel for an ODD, fan controllers, or other extras. The front panel also includes four USB 3.0 ports, HD audio inputs, and slots for the RGB controller for the optional lighting kit.

Redesigned Ergonomics, Better Legroom
The DK-04 features a new design, sporting a slimmer frame that tapers towards the user for better leg room. As it's a standing desk, the height can be fine-tuned to match each person; its legs are made from steel for structural strength - it can support loads up to 100kg.

Improved Water Cooling Support
Four 120mm fans intake cool air from the front of the chassis and vent through four additional exhaust fans mounted on the back panel. The DK-04 can also house very elaborate water cooling setups. The front intake fans can be swapped for a large 120mmx480mm radiator; the rear fans can be replaced by two 120mmx240mm radiators.

Updated Case Building Features
Along with Lian Li's previous desks, the DK-04 uses a removable motherboard tray for easy, unhindered building. Inside the chassis, there are wide margins with anchored cable clips to simplify cable routing and organization. The internal compartment is spacious, bright, and visible. The DK-04 supports eight expansion slots and VGA cards up to 320mm in length. It supports full ATX and mATX motherboards and mounts CPU coolers up to 140mm in height and ATX PSUs up to 210mm long.

The DK-04 will be available on May 10th for $1499.

So true, but the wrong company to do this as they always sell shit @ Apple prices.

@ $1500 i could get one made for me even try to make my own if i had that kinda money laying around.

All that aside it does look nice and well built and i do like what they did with the legs too.

Most of the cost I'm guessing is due to the lift portions. A run of the mill lift desk will run about 800-1000.

I know a person who did a PC build in one of the Lian-Li desks, and it looks seriously impressive. It clears up a lot of wiring and under desk clutter, but those prices are really hard to digest and the unless someone has a massive salary that is one price tag nearly impossible to get over.

Not at all. I don't have a massive salary and I can afford things like this in a couple of months if I really wanted it. It's a matter of priorities.

They had this desk-all-in-one thingy for years. More than 5 years, I am pretty sure. They probably updated USB 2 to 3 and some other stuff and re-released it.

From all of Lian Li's desk "cases" I think this is the best one so far. I still wouldn't get it, but I think it's better than the previous one's. What I would like to see in the next revision is some modular space for putting a 3 in 1 copy/scan/printer device + dedicated hook for hi-fi headphones.

Their previous version without the adjustable height goes for about $1,000. An extra $400-500 for the adjustable height? Yeesh.

There are glass-top desks for $200. Might as well just start with one of those and mod a case in to it.

It looks almost identical to an Up Desk mechanism. Those desks start at $1,000. So the $1,500 is reasonable for a niche product like this.

Because some one else charges a great amount in no way makes it reasonable for anyone else, but it is a reason to get in the market if the demand is good enough.

How ever they over charging for it like the others are, do i blame them nope but they can shove their over priced shit were the sun don't shine.

That's up to the purchaser. There are tons and tons of people spending 800+ on a standard updesk. 1500 for a black one with a glass top that can hold an enthusiast computer some might just want for the extra 500.

You say that, but it isn't just something you can go to a wood worker or furniture maker and ask them to make you one.

To get something custom made that is as nice looking and polished as this, or even an up desk without the lian-li case, will cost you a lot more.

You need a metal worker to make all the metal pieces, someone to figure out all the mechanics necessary to raise and lower the desk, someone that know the electronics to put together the controller. It isn't going to be cheap.
