What was predicted? Because it will be worth ~300 once 1070 hits market.

Exactly, 300 bucks for a 980ti that will perform almost similar to a 1070 that is +$150? Not happening. It happened in past gen but not this time. And if it does, let me know and I'm buying two.

This is also why I feel the 1070 is priced 100 bucks too high.

I wanna see performance numbers between GTX 970/980/980Ti/Titan X to that of the 1070 and 1080. Nvidia said that the 1070 was faster than a titan x but the benchmarks I just seen on Tek Syndicate may prove otherwise. Granted he didnt bench against a titan. Why are no one benching against a Titan X?

I think the GTX 1070 is at least ~$50 USD more then I would want to spend for a card in this class. However, even though some of the specs are concerning I'll wait to see the benchmarks before judging too harshly. Tentatively speaking this is likely the card I will buy despite the fact that its a little more expensive then I had expected. If I am feeling like I really want to save some money then maybe I'll see what the price drop is like on the GTX 980 / 970 cards once the GTX 1080 / 1070 become available.

And in October you'd be skipping Vega and waiting for the 1080Ti

Guys, wait a sec.

Nvidia already stated that the 1070 would be "faster than a Titan X".

Benchies for the GTX 1080 are already out and it's about ~22% faster than the Titan X, so there you have it, the GTX 1070 should be MAX ~22% slower than the GTX 1080.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't believe the claims that GTX 1070 is faster than TitanX, I guarantee you that it is NOT anywhere near the Titan X nor the 980Ti.

GTX 1080 : 2560 sp * 2 * clocks (up to 2114 Mhz ingame) = ~10.82 TFLOPS
Titan X : 3072 sp * 2 * clocks (up to1400 Mhz ingame) = ~ 8.9 TFLOPS
GTX 980Ti : 2816 sp * 2 * clocks (up to 1450-1500 Mhz ingame) = ~ 8.45 TFLOPS
GTX 980 : 2048 sp * 2 * clocks (up to 1400-1500 Mhz ingame) = ~ 6.14 TFLOPS
GTX 970 : 1664 sp * 2 * clocks (up to 1400-1500 Mhz ingame) = ~ 5 TFLOPS

Keep in mind that the GTX 1070 has lower TMUs/ROPs count than TitanX and the 980Ti, in addition to that the fact that it may not boost as high as the GTX 1080,
Lets say , GTX 1070 : 1920 sp * 2 * clocks (up to 1800 Mhz ingame) = ~6.9 TFLOPS.
And even if it did oc and boost as high as the GTX 1080 it will be around 7.6 TFLOPS and that's at best.

I strongly believe (almost sure .. lol) that the GTX 1070 will be just a lil better than the GTX980.

*note that i calculated the ingame performance not the base clock performance ( I wonder why .. Nvidia is doing that?)

So you're telling me you'll be caught completely off guard by 1080Ti?
There's literally no point at which you could upgrade when there isn't something better just around the corner. But sometimes you bite the bullet and try to make the best of your available cash.

It depends on how you look at it. Performance aside, we already know GTX 1070 will be better than Titan X at keeping the money in your pocket.
Fwiw, I'd be disappointed if it doesn't handily beat a GTX 980 (which in turn isn't much faster than a GTX 970).

That is odd, so AIB's before the FE? That will cut Nvidia's own sales short entirely, which pushes it back in line with previous card releases (the reference NVTTM coolers are rare and they will stay that way, while at the same time having nothing on offer besides being quality blowers).

So now it REALLY is business as usual :)

I just want enough gpu performance to play Witcher 3 at 60fps in 4K. The 2 970s I sold on ebay yesterday for $475 gave me 33-35 fps. The 1080 can do 45fps. For $59 more, can 2 1070s get me there?
