If the stock 4GB version of 480 is equivalent to the 390X and the $300 versions come overclocked to 1500 MHz as rumoured, then performance will be roughly as follows:

Stock RX 480 ($200) is 70-75% of a 1070.
After-market RX 480 ($300) is 85-90% of a 1070.

Just found out that a local store already opened a pre-order for this card and 8 GB model price is $285 (PowerColor), price wise that is not bad at all. For comparison cheapest brand new GTX 970 is $323 (Zotac) and cheapest R9 390 is $319 (PowerColor).

since they are hitting stores now, the lead time on pressing the CDs would preclude them from including the latest drivers.

My understanding is that they still are using the automatic overclocking utility AMD Overdrive which you are probably better off getting the latest revision from their download site:

However, automatic overclocking while convenient usually wont yield best results over a manual OC using Afterburner.

Overdrive has been a part of the video driver for years. Those seam to be new panels with in the overdrive option.

You could always set it manually in Overdrive and don't need to use Afterburner.

cards are popping up on newegg now, it looks like if you want that back plate you have to pay an exta 10 bucks. Pricing also looks much more lenient than the 1070/80 gouging was, pretty much spot on with what AMD said.

I have no vested interest in this card (except for my fathers PC). I would really love to see if it is a good overclocker and by good I mean, a card that isn't shackled at birth (Fiji, Maxwell, Pascal). If it does overclock I would love to see a RX490 version, though I don't think that's planned (unless that's Vega?). And if that is Vega, I hope Vega overclocks. The last great fun I actually had overclocking was a software volt modded original Titan. Before that it was a 7970.

Apparently your ELITE status, go buy 2 $750 cards that wont SLI in game. Oh buy the special needs bridge too............. Least red Team isn't a sample only release. why don't you post your AWESOME system specs for use to droll ova?
