I have mixed feelings about this GPU. It increasingly looks like it might be a better bargain for people gaming at 1080p rather than 1440p+ and VR. We'll see in the final reviews on June 29th.

It's entry level VR but yeah I get what you're saying. I also consider it good for 1080p... for 1440p and VR is good right now but I get the feeling that it won't be for long.

We had Oculus Rift at work.
One of my colleagues nearly instantly got strong nausea that lasted for about 2 weeks (!).

Although that was rollercoaster demo, and maybe if you limit it to "just look around" "you aren't moving" kind of visuals, it won't limit userbase.

I don't think there's anything preventing from running several of these benchmarks in a row and then performing the score average.

Either way, there's a need for something else capable of testing/comparing GPUs in VR-like workloads, where the game runs at a quite high resolution (4.5-5.0 mpixels - taking into account the internal supersampling performed by the VR headset software), high framerate (~90 fps) and relatively low shader workload. I suspect that the RX480 about the same or slightly worse than the R9 390 under these conditions, while it's on par or slightly better than the 390X at lower resolutions and more traditional gaming workloads.
