Hi there,

I was discussing, in the wrong place on the share your cpu-z screens thread, a problem with my CPU benchmark results:

My initial picture was this:

CPU-Z Screens.png

I have since been informed I selected the wrong reference, so here is the correct bench with the what I believe to be the correct reference:

CPU-Z Bench.png

Here is a link to my validator page:

http://valid.x86.fr/6xfw27

Does anyone know how I can go about correcting the multi-thread bench on the CPU or do I have defective hardware?

Kind Regards,
A

I don't se anything wrong with it either. You have 3.5GHz processor running at 3.99907GHz. Note the bench CPU is a different CPU.

Look at the other picture from CPU-Z. That's a ~34% difference compared to a 3960X.

Seems like pretty weak multi-thread performance.

Here's mine for reference:

I've never benched with CPU-Z before so have no idea how good a test it is.
Maybe you want to try with other programs? Cinibench? then you can compare more.

TO the OP please list all your system specs include as much you can and we may be able to find a week piont or bottle neck or at least give some sound advice.

I'm going to assume this is a new build, did you install all the MOBO drivers and what nots?

I still don't see anything wrong. No unit forms exactly the same and there could be countless factors influencing the result.
Well, there definitely is something wrong with this. 2/3 of the performance of a 3960X with a 3970X is something I would say is not working as intended.

If his computer is running something else, software bugs or whatever. There is something wrong.

The specs seems to be pretty high end and I would think it would excel nicely on multi-threaded benches.... So have you loaded all the mobo drivers and what nots? Did you install the drivers in the correct order?

This isn't the first thread where that benchmark has been way off. Try another benchmark. I think you'll find its just CPU-Z

Hmm looks like your CPU is being held back by something in BIOS..

Check if Windows Update or any other service is eating performance, and try at stock settings to see if the motherboard is deciding to lower the clocks for any reason.

leave it on ice for a while. I will be home from work after 6hours... IMHO I suspect those are temps at fault.

Your RAM also is working at lower rubbish speed not the XMP profile.

OK, I've enabled XMP, and now the bench on CPU-Z is coming in at 9000 for multi-thread, thanks for you help chaps. Now to figure out why my 2x 980 Ti's in SLi are giving worse results in Star Citizen then when I disable SLi!

I guess Pass Mark routines exclude the impact of other PC components whereas CPU-Z thake them into account for the score
