The FE cards throttle and are overpriced. If you can, swap it out for an MSI Gaming or Palit GameRock edition I advise you to. Check the TPU reviews for more options.

I paid $480 for this GPU and a lot of times the FPS goes down 40-50.

But, what do you think, should I have more than 60hz always, I'm right?.

Check benchmarks like 3D Mark so you can compare with others. Using one game is a bad way to determine performance. Also use a program to set a higher fan curve. You seem to have a pretty hot card... but it's kind of uncertain since you're only showing one game.

like @erocker says games has many variables to count in that's why benchmark's gives a more even score, and talking about Syndicate it's not like it's really good optimized it's not and it's vram hungry I gamed it on a GTX 970 had problems at 3,8gb than I got a GTX Titan with 6gb and I ran like ~4,5gb and more no issues about the same performance on both and now I game it on my MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X @ 1440p@100hz had to use mixed settings to get a good frame rate and I am running this game from a dedicated SSD.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
again ... oh wow you actually did go against all recommendation to avoid the FE cards and take a custom model... and now ... you're disappointed ...

altho your FE cost a little less than any FE where i live, but "Founder" edition means nothing more than a reference model (oh well ... you should know it since it was an argument over your previous threads ) have a weaker power phase layout, 1x8pin (whereas on many custom you get an additional 6pin on, although custom model with single 8pin are fine ) and a signature blower cooler which is nothing more than a reference cooler with a edgy design and a hefty premium attached to it.

in AC:Syndicate i get a stable 60fps Vsync result ... but i don't use AA (not really a huge difference anyway) if you want to crank up all settings to the max, at least get a non reference model or put that FE under water (although i won't recommend you to do it ... ) my MSI Armor gets better thermal result and overall results (nonetheless it was the only non ref model that was cheaper than a FE at my retailer )

like @erocker says games has many variables to count in that's why benchmark's gives a more even score, and talking about Syndicate it's not like it's really good optimized it's not and it's vram hungry I gamed it on a GTX 970 had problems at 3,8gb than I got a GTX Titan with 6gb and I ran like ~4,5gb and more no issues about the same performance on both and now I game it on my MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X @ 1440p@100hz had to use mixed settings to get a good frame rate and I am running this game from a dedicated SSD.
yep AC:S is heavily taxing, even on modern hardware (altho a SSD would change nothing beside loading time )

I paid $480 for this GPU and a lot of times the FPS goes down 40-50.

The 1070 is not a 1080 or Titan. Try turning down a couple gfx options. :headshake:

I had a EVGA GTX1080 before.

Two weeks ago I bought on Amazon the EVGA GTX1080 and I saw 80-100 FPS and I said: damnnn, a lot of money wasted using 1080p.
Then, I sold the card and I bought a GTX1070 from NVIDIA, and now I can not run the games a like maxed out and above 60+.
Maybe should I sell it..... Buy a Hybrid model?, I don't know.. I'm tired of this dilemma..

But, what do you think, should I have more than 60hz always, I'm right?.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what framerate you should be getting. As it's a 1070, not a 1080 it might be rather lower than you think.

I've just bought a Palit GameRock GTX 1080 with G-Spot Panel. It's a three slot monster and got a 9.8 / 10 review on TPU (Premium version). It's not actually out of its box yet as I'm preparing some benchmarks to compare it with my old cards, but I will soon and make a thread about it. Sorry for rambling, but what I'm trying to say is that there's a Palit GameRock edition of of the 1070 too and it's quite cheap as well, so you might want to go for that, if you can. On top of that, these cards are virtually silent even at full throttle.

It sounds like you're noticing the frame rate drop over time. Is that right? If so, that's because of the crappy cooler causing it to throttle. From grieverblade's post above, it sounds like you were advised to avoid FE cards, so I'm not surprised that you're disappointed with it. Why did you go for it?

Check benchmarks like 3D Mark so you can compare with others. Using one game is a bad way to determine performance. Also use a program to set a higher fan curve. You seem to have a pretty hot card... but it's kind of uncertain since you're only showing one game.
+1, take erocker's advice.

there was no dilemma ... you should've kept the 1080 (granted you didn't take a FE model) and next upgrade would've been a 1440p screen (nope 4k is still not a thing )
a custom model would've been way better in any way over a FE model be it for 1070 or 1080p

with my 1070 i play 1080p 60fps more constantly but i like to do concession like no AA (as i said previously ... not really useful ) and dips under 40fps are rare (altho even 30fps is still playable and do not concerne me as i get no visible massives stutter like some other user have reported with ASUS and Gigabyte as examples )

although last but not least ... you want to run maxed out ... there is NO overkill in taking a 1080 for 1080p for the time being, me .... i am just fine with my MSI Armor.

(my next upgrade path is a 1440p 27" monitor altho ... since a 1070 is enough for 1440p if you are wanting to make concession on settings  )

So did you reinstall your drivers when you swapped cards? Run DDU?

a simple clean install from geforce driver would've been enough, just like when i swapped my dead 980 for the actual 1070 (DDU is the last resort, as it's a little ... ah ... nevermind)

Also using a synthetic benchmark is a bad way to determine performance ;) Whilst 3d Mark is good for benching it doesn't represent real world usage so I'm going to go the other way and say bench games not benchmarks to determine if it's performing as it should be but a yes to the fan curve profile if it's getting too hot and throttling in games is a must.

I've just bought a Palit GamRock GTX 1080 with G-Spot Panel.

+1, take erocker's advice.

Sorry but i have little sympathy for you

You downgraded to a lesser card and your now Disappointed:banghead::wtf: in the performance it Delivers

So did you reinstall your drivers when you swapped cards? Run DDU?

a simple clean install from geforce driver would've been enough, just like when i swapped my dead 980 for the actual 1070 (DDU is the last resort, as it's a little ... ah ... nevermind)

This thread delivers facepalm at the highest entertainment level. :D

Lov U, Internet.

I thought let me save some money and sell the GTX1080 because I'm getting a lot of FPS that I don't need because my monitor is 60hz.
After, I bought the GTX1070 and I saved like $220.

But, I change the settings on AS Syndicate from NVIDIA PCSS + ULTRA to just NVIDIA PCSS and now I'm getting 55-65 FPS.

I am a person who like to have everything maxed out no matter what.

I was playing DOOM right now and I got 100-120 FPS maxed out, dammn.....
Maybe I have a good card for a good money (the thing is that I like the FE model guys) I just need to change a few settings that we don't see the difference, really..

I changed the default Fan Curve and I put 80% fan speed above 60 C and now the GPU is at 72 C max.

The fan was only ever getting up to 50% regardless of the load or temps so I am assuming it would have been throttling quite a bit, nothing else in your specs jumps out to me as an issue so maybe with that fan profile see how your performance is and if it's still dropping off?

Really should have kept the 1080 then. I get that you feel like you're throwing away performance now, but you've taken a card that could max out games for the foreseeable future and you've traded it for a card that can barely max them out right now (and won't max out games that are coming out soon).

Even if your 1070 maxes out games right now, I suspect it won't be long before system requirements go up and you'll be selling it for another 1080. (..and then again after a while for a 1080 Ti.)

Edit: I wouldn't worry about maxing out every last little setting you can find. It's about maxing out the right settings (and compromising on others) to make your game both beautiful and playable.

I see.
Well, I can not return the GPU because I'm out of US right now because of work.
But, I will change a few settings to have 60+ FPS.
I will keep this GPU until the GTX1080ti is released to buy the Hybrid model.

So far, with just changing settings that we rarely see, I get 60+ FPS, so I'm fine.
GTX1080ti I WILL WAIT FOR YOU....ahahahaha
