clearly a multi crew ship is not the best pick when being alone in

(funny i could take out a Tali while i don't own a Tali anymore ... )

current "fleet"
CNOU Mustang Gamma
Drake Interplanetary Cutlass Black
RSI Aurora LN (with Dread Pirate skin and SXSW 2015 skin)
Kruger P-72 Archimedes (the only one on 4 i didn't upgrade)

I'm comparing the 2 right now... I prefer a utility role as a general rule, unfortunately more of a Jack of All, sort of thing. As such, I think the Avenger might be more up my way. I'm trying to find a direct comparison page somewhere heheh

edit* Bah, found it :)

The entire Avenger series was severely Nerfed in terms of speed and overheating.
As far as the Stalker is concerned, the Suckerpunch cannons do not have any impact except against shields, and the effects aren't permanent which means they recharge.
There is no current game mechanic for the prisoner cells, but they real question here is with the speed Nerf, and useless Suckerpunch, how is one supposed to catch Bounties?
I would strongly suggest reading the Avenger sub-forums before making a purchase. Beware of the paid shills whose job it is to do damage control on the RSI Forums, they were even active during the Twitch livestream for the Alpha 3.0 demo.

I want to get my hands on a hornet and a freelancer DUR. I am just not sure I really want to spend that much on the game. The game is really turning into something fun already though. Maybe I can get them for somewhat cheap if they have an anniversary sale.

I wouldn't spend anymore than the starter fee.
The new TOS is citing "Minimum Viable Product", and so it would seem the scope of the game has been reduced.
I noticed that the Medical Equipment items are now missing from the shelves in the Medical Unit at Arc Corp, suggesting that the advanced medical game mechanics have been scrapped.

What a load of nonsense. The scope has not been "toned down" - the medical items, like many other items, are either bugged out of the display cabinet in this version or are removed while they are being remodeled. We've had the guns not appear on gun racks in previous releases but can still use them today. MVP is a common concept in software development which is defined as what is seen to be the minimum required set of features for the software to be released (this is defined by working with customers to understand all the items they consider part of the MVP, and in SC's case they are already defined in the various communications we have had over the years - nothing has been removed) - you usually add capabilities after release to expand on the MVP. In the case of Star Citizen's MVP the capability will include all of the functionality promised for release - there were some items, such as pets, which were promised post release. The wording in the TOS is there so that CIG can release a "GA" (generally available) version of the game with the MVP features without people crying that stuff that was promised for after release was not included before release.

So many conspiracy theories flying around common best practices in software development it's ridiculous...

You could be right, but then again the new TOS has a much more restrictive refund policy in countries where they are able.

If you mean "much more restrictive" to be the same as any other software purchase then yes CIG have restricted it more (in almost all countries you can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase). They do give refunds outside of this period, but it's not something they guarantee to people (people have refunded $5k purchases years after making them). The issue they have is that there is a persistent scare campaign being run by people who want to see the game fail, and if they offered unlimited refunds to everyone then it would encourage the scare campaign to step it up a notch even further to try and financially damage CIG. Comments such as "the game has been scaled down" "it's impossible to make the game" "x feature has been removed" "they'll be bankrup in less than 90 days" are all the kinds of things people have said to try and scare people into wanting refunds, which is a shame as all the comments have no basis in reality or source beyond a small group making stuff up.

@Ungari Where did you come from? You're like the A-bomb. Everyone's laughing, having a good time here in the SC clubhouse, then BOOM! you show up.
I understand not everybody feels SC will be a success, that it could fall flat on its face. I understand you don't have to be an SC supporter or backer to be here in the clubhouse. But for the love of all that is nerdy and good, do not come into our clubhouse and start with your FUD. Everybody in this thread has dealt with it at some point, we know the FUD is there, and sure, there is a chance that SC could wholly flop, but this is our little hangout to talk about the game and get away from the FUD. At least a few of us, myself included, won't even go into the CIG forums anymore because of the FUD and fear-mongering going on there. This is supposed to be our "safe place" from all of that.
If you want to talk about SC or CIG or space sims in general, fine, that's what the clubhouse is here for, but please do not come in just to spread FUD and discourage the people here at TPU who are actually excited about SC.

I think we have some overreacting to what I've posted.

I'm not saying that this game will fail, nor do I want it to fail as I'm a backer who plays the Alpha quite regularly(just about every day).

Having said this, I do have issues with CIG's policies and treatment of backers who have stated displeasure with various aspects of the development.

It surprises me that you say that you wont go on CIG Forums, as it is an echo chamber for White Knights, Stockholm Syndrome Victims, and the many PR Shills with over 10K posts masquerading as genuine backers who attack, delete, and ban dissenters. I have a good friend who recently purchased the Mustang Starter package and after continuously glitching out of the ship, posted his dismay on the RSI Forums. Immediately, the usual suspects piled on the thread with the usual rebuttals out of the PR Shills Playbook, i.e. "it's only an ALPHA...". He then replied in a courteous manner but held his ground, only to have his replies deleted by the awful moderators. This left only the posts made by the attackers who even went so far as to suggest that he shouldn't have backed the game because he expected the walls and decks of his ship to be solid.

Then you have what happened to me when I upgraded to the Avenger Stalker, when CIG Nerfed what is advertised as an Interceptor, in a Bait and Switch tactic they use to get backers to become dissatisfied and purchase further more expensive ship upgrades.

Even if Star Citizen and Squadron 42 becomes the greatest game in history, I will never forgive CIG for how they treat their customers!

BTW, I'm not the only one who found CIG's new TOS to be onerous, there is a reason why they changed the TOS, probably because some high level backers(Concierge and Completionist) have gone to court for refunds.

I saw it in one video, but the Dragonfly has a "parked" mode where everything kinda slides in together. I think it'll fit. :D

Idk.. I see both sides on the official forums and on Reddit and I think they're all nuts.

Your bias is plain to see. Proof of CIG being taken to court for refunds? The way you are posting is definitive, as if you know what you are posting is true and that you have evidence to back up what you're saying. The way you are saying things like "they won't have an advanced medical system" because some in-game models are not in this release? That's a massive overreaction and people are sick of reading hyperbole and made-up nonsense. There's a way to discuss things and stating made up stuff as fact with no evidence to put people off the game is not suitable behavior tbh.

The game isn't out and you're complaining that the Avenger isn't what was promised? It's not balanced yet, and if you really don't like it ask for a refund or melt the ship to swap for another one. CIG go further than most to help people out. One thing I do agree on is the official forums are pretty dire, which is why many don't go there.

You should reread my post.
I never said the medical system would not be advanced, just that it appears that way when the diagnostic items are removed from display.
As to backers taking legal action for refunds, it has been documented but don't ask me for a citation because I don't remember exactly where I read about those instances.
As to the Avenger, if CIG can take the time to Nerf the ship, they can take the time to fix the awful clipping and other defects. The very idea that CIG would Nerf anything at this early stage is absurd anyway.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
I want to get my hands on a hornet and a freelancer DUR. I am just not sure I really want to spend that much on the game. The game is really turning into something fun already though. Maybe I can get them for somewhat cheap if they have an anniversary sale.
the Dur is somewhat nice ... i love the Freelancer but i like exploration more than transport in a finished game (like eve online for instance ) so i opted for the Dur (although it was nearly free since it was an upgrade and i had some store credit left )
the Hornet is ... iconic ... i dunno but i have a F-100 Super Sabre feeling when i look at it from the side ... the F7C-S Hornet Ghost has my preference (tho it lack the big box of the standard civilian variante... darn i hate that i missed the Super Hornet sale on anniversary  )

As to the Avenger, if CIG can take the time to Nerf the ship, they can take the time to fix the awful clipping and other defects. The very idea that CIG would Nerf anything at this early stage is absurd anyway.
what did they nerf on it? i was away for quite some time ... and the Avenger Titan still feel like the 1st Avenger i bought o_O

I never said the medical system would not be advanced, just that it appears that way when the diagnostic items are removed from display.

As to backers taking legal action for refunds, it has been documented but don't ask me for a citation because I don't remember exactly where I read about those instances.

"it appears that way when the diagnostic items are removed from display" is the overreacting I was talking about. A model is missing so it means the game mechanic is being scrapped? That's the hell of a jump you did to reach that suggestion.

On the court action Derek Smart said it, and his source later admitted to being a troll trolling him.

Balance passes take one guy a few mins to edit in a spreadsheet - a different guy to the one who would fix clipping issues.

The SCM speed was reduced, but for some reason not as badly on the Titan which inexplicably is faster than the so called Interceptor Bounty Hunter.
There was also changes to the main gun, as it overheats too quickly.

i see ... so basically only the Scorpion Gatling and speed ... ok ... not a big deal (altho a ballistic weapon mounted externally should not overheat in space, or not as fast as it would on atmosphere ... but for balancing it make sense )

You do not balance an Alpha.
At least one of the court cases was in a RSI Forums post by a Concierge level backer, where the moderator locked the topic with the reason that they could not discuss legal matters involving refunds.

It doesn't make much difference to a player only concerned with hauling Cargo(a game mechanic that we still are waiting on), but it makes a huge difference to someone who bought an Interceptor Bounty Hunter.

Mods are not CIG employees - they'd have no way to know if it is true or not. Is also zero proof as I could post anything like that on the forums if I wanted (and it would get deleted the same).

"You do not balance an Alpha."

CIG are trying from patch to patch to tweak and adjust things, but there's no massive balance push. Since you're saying you don't balance an Alpha why the complaint that the Avanger was a bait and switch? It could still work in the intended role once the game is balanced fully..

Because the Nerfing had the effect of many who just bought what was sold to them as an Interceptor to be dissatisfied with their purchase causing quite a few to upgrade to a different ship.
That is the classic definition of the Bait and Switch tactic which has been employed throughout history.

BTW A ship that has most intrigued me is the Cutlass Red.
However, until I see an advanced medical model, I will not purchase this vessel.
