Here's another $400 option for ultra-small PCs, this time based on Intel's 35W Skylake CPU, the Core i3-6100T. The ECS LIVA One ups the performance a notch compared to past LIVA units, but the ECS LIVA One also ups the size a fair bit.

I wonder how this would cope with a 65w CPU, like the i5-6500...

I know it ins't officially supported, but I'm still curious. I'm sure either the fan would get loud, or the CPU would thermal throttle, or both.

Looks intriguing, but I just miss the option to have a discrete GPU in there of any kind. Web-content changes so fast even for office work. Will the iGPU handle rich web-media content in 5-7 years ?

Hard to say. Yet, does an NVidia 285 or AMD 4870 still do well? Do they even have active driver support?
