Mouse Recommendation Needed

My favorite mouse shape is the Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse V2.1 model 1094. The problem with this mouse is the low DPI, the sensor quality, and the mouse wheel. I would like to get something similar shape with a higher DPI and sensor quality and higher quality wheel. I replace the feet on these with tiger/hotline gaming products.

This mouse measures 2.2 inches wide x 4.1 inches deep x 1.34 inches high.

I prefer to use my fingers and to a lesser extent my wrist and forearm to move the mouse rather than my shoulder. I rest my forearm on the desk. Therefore high sensitivity and low weight of mouse are a priority for me. I like smoother shaped mice. Essentially if these Basic Optical's had better hardware inside I would have the perfect mouse.

I use a hard plastic/aluminum Corsair MM600 surface.

I play a lot of FPS.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I also don't want to spend more than $50.

Looks to me you have fairly large hands, like mine . I would say you use mouse the same way as I do from your posted information .

I used for a lengthy period MS mice, last one was MS Mouse 5000 wireless part of a keyboard pack. That was pretty decent IMO, don't know DPI, was wireless and battery lasted well. When I built my current rig I went Logitech G700S, as still wanted wireless but with more buttons for gaming.

I tried the Logitech MX Master in a local shop and did not like thumbwheel/buttons by it, also not enough buttons, size was OK. The G602 seemed too small for my hand, too many buttons by thumb = too small buttons for my liking.

I went the G700S, I like the free wheel action for windows use and notched for gaming (it allows selection via a switch at top). Battery life is not as good as MS mouse 5000 or as good as my el cheapo wireless Logitech mouse I use on my laptop, but it will last me a days use plus with the included USB charge cable it will work whilst charging. Takes a standard AA battery, so you can get away with using normal battery for more wireless action, I just keep spare rechargeable AAs. The size is perfect for my hands. The software works great, allows custom profiles to be applied to games at launch and then reverts to whatever you want for windows when you quit game. Allows profiles onboard mouse memory as well, I prefer the software ones. Has fair few options in software to allow you to eek a bit more battery life as well, like polling rate, it goes as far as 1000ms IIRC. I've never used the crazy high DPIs it allows, I have 5 DPIs set between 1000 - 2400 to change on the fly via buttons, you can change number of DPI profiles plus the DPI values. The mouse is very customisable.

Don't know $ prices as in the UK, usually on Amazon UK it's £50 - £60 but can be found regularly on promo for £35, real steal at that price IMO.

I use the G700 too. Best mouse I think. But if you want a symmetrical mouse maybe get a G300. The G700(s) is shaped for right hand users.

My only 'gripe' is the battery life, close to 2 days for me

I have the logitech daedalus G302. It's a "finger trigger" mouse, meaning you constantly feel like you're controlling it with your finger tips.
It's a very fast mouse. Alas, too small for my hand and mouse using style. So now I have the Hyperion 402. Which is just as fast, has the same features, some more buttons and most importantly to me, alot bigger and just about right for my hand.
Looking at your pictures I would say the daedalus G302 suits your needs perfectly.

To be fair, the 302 does feel better in overall usage but my wrist was hurting from it too much.
Both work fine on w7 and w10. Software from logitech has improved alot.

Logitech proteus core here... but i think youll need to go to a best buy store for ex: and try those available in your hand, wallmart or any other store. i did that in my personal case and
change my choice from the deathadder to the Logitech P.C. since the first one was too big for my hand.

I was just about to recommend a SteelSeries mouse as well, as it seems they do tend to offer mice similar in shape to the one in the OP. Nothing agains the Logitech mice, but they are bulkier in design and tend to be higher in the middle.

Yeah I went to a store and bought a Roccat Lua. I actually have small-medium hands and I grip with my fingertips though i usually rest the side of my right palm on the edge of the mouse. Ditching most of the palm and going almost entirely fingertip is a bit different but I like it so far. The mouse is tiny and you can traverse the screen with just the fingertips. The mouse wheel is the best I have ever used, feels like a car tire. Also I like the buttons. I hope it lasts awhile and my hand continues to get used to it.

I tried the Logitech 303 but the hard edge kind of bothered me. The Asus Sica was intriguing, might get one on eBay if I see one under $25.

Going to sell the 518, I hate the shape. The pinkie ledge and thumb ledges on the side removes my ability to aim at the corners of the screen.

LOL I have no idea if I am a claw or finger or palm, I just hold it how I hold it and I hate mice with lots of bullshit on the sides like the 518.

Nixeus revel. Nice looking mouse, large range of dpi choice too. Not bad price either.

Another benefit, it you consider it as such. Does not require drivers nor software to run.

I use a rapoo V900, yeah I know what the hell is a rapoo? lol I got it just to see what it was like and for $30AUS its now my fav mouse, just suits me perfectly and for the price ya cant go wrong.

Going to return this Lua, it hurts my hand a ton because its so flat. I like the size except the height is really lacking. Maybe I should get a WMO clone.

What do you guys think about the FK1? Any difference pre or post Benq?

Steel series has some nice ones too.

I really hate thumb and pinkie bumps. I also don't like side buttons.

I'd be hitting that left side button all day by accident, I like to rest my thumb there actually. I put my palm on the heel of the mouse but use sort of a claw like grip with my thumb index finger and middle finger. But I play really high sensitivity, I don't move my arm and shoulder much. That first picture in the thread is how I hold it when I game. I have no clue what kind of grip that is.

Also one thing I like about microsoft is they seperate the button plastic from the plastic of the top.

Steel series Kana looks like a nice shape.

That button is slightly recessed above the thumb grip and the grip is big, bigger than it looks

It is nice that they separate the button from the shell on the Foreglider. The microcenter here has all the mice in boxes and you can't really try them out. A lot of the high end mice like Zowie and Logitech actually don't even have a plastic clamshell or even a picture of the mouse on the box. It is insane. Would be like buying a pair of running shoes based on a logo without putting them on or even holding them in hand. Best I have found is they are willing to open one or two mice boxes but its not the same as having them all out on a tacticle display.

Zowie ZA13 is perfect it feels very very similar to the Basic Optical, a bit less curvy but the size is close enough. It took my hand a few hours of FPS to get used to the new shape but it is a keeper. I had buyers remorse and wished I had ordered the ZA12 or larger at first.
