AMD's domination in the sub-$200 market is rattled with NVIDIA's introduction of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, and the GTX 1050. In addition to sending out media flyers pointing out what makes its GPUs better consumer choices than NVIDIA's, the company cut prices of two key SKUs - Radeon RX 470 4GB, and Radeon RX 460.

Pricing of the Radeon RX 470 4 GB is cut down to $159.99, from its $169.99 launch price. This puts the SKU just $20 above the GTX 1050 Ti. For $20 more you get double the memory bandwidth and higher performance, says AMD. Price of the Radeon RX 460 2 GB is cut down to $99.99, from $109.99, making it $10 cheaper than the GTX 1050 (non-Ti). The GeForce GTX 1050 series goes on sale from the 25th October, 2016.

I don't see why anyone now would pick 1050ti over the rx470. For just 20 bucks more, you get almost 50% more performance. The Rx 470 is currently the best bang for the buck.

People will buy the 1050Ti because it is green.
But still the RX470 is a better performing card and mGPU works (It does according to Kyle@HOCP).

RX470 is basically a tiny bit slower RX480. Why would anyone pick anything less?

I don't understand people who say "But uh oh it's 20€ more!". And then they blow 40+ € in a single weekend drinking with buddies. Like wtf dude...

If difference is 100€, fair enough, that's a big jump. But 20€? Really? That's why I don't understand crumbling of the segment of graphic cards down to 35 models for every 5€ difference. Just shell out those extra few € and buy a better model, damn. People who buy such cards will have them for 5 years anyway, what is extra 20€ if the card will last you a year or even more longer?

I'd like to see them drop the RX 480 prices about 20 bucks, might pick up another one for crossfire.

This would mean more if the AIBs would follow this, but the cheapest RX 470 I can find online is around $180. Although that is down $15 from the $195 it was last week. Hopefully when the 1050 ti is finally released next week the RX 470 will actually sell for $160. You can actually find an RX 460 for a $100 though =D !

That's called life. I throw out 300 euros in the last 10 days of August for just a 3 days vacations in a Greek Island, instead of going for an 8GB RX 480. I don't regret it even having to see my HD 7850 struggle with new games. Computer hardware is not everything.

Ok, lets upgrade on that. Would you regret it, if it was 320€ or maybe 340€? I think it wouldn't be a determining factor. Same is for graphic cards. Such small differences are a non issue, but can make huge differences in the long run.

That's not really the comparsion to make. RejZoR makes a great point that if you are buying a trip to Greece for 300€, would it really matter that much if it was 320€?

There where two islands as possible destinations. Hydra(no I didn't met Red Scull there) and Spetses. The costs would be almost the same, but the cost to go to Spetses was 15 euros more than Hydra. So, yes, there is a hard limit that you decide to not go over it, even if it is insignificant compared with to total cost.

This is happening everywhere and we see it in countless cases in PCs, where people go out buy the best system, but one part of it, usually the motherboard or the PSU. I have seen a video a few days back where someone was showing a new gaming PC with top hardware, including a i7 5820K and a GTX 1060 with.... 3GB of RAM.

Sorry, but you'd not decide for a different destination of your choice (which could potentially be so much better) because of 15€ difference? Why don't you just stay at home then? Seriously. I mean, seriously, 15€! I'm far from rich, but I really don't understand you people...

If RX470 gets to be sold at the AMD suggested retail price it will be unbeatable in FPS/$ no matter what. And whoever is cheap in spending $20 more for 40-50% more performance is just a fanboy or lacks in basic math knowledge imho. We are talking about a gpu lasting 2-3 years more than the other here.

Hm, what a charming offer. I was looking to upgrade to 1060 from 760 but 1060 is 350CAD here. 470 sounds far more attractive.

"...RX 470 4 GB is cut down to $159.99, from its $169.99 launch price."

Launch prices for the 470/480s have been a load of crap from the beginning. The 470 starts at $200 at newegg unless u settle for a cut down single fan hsf. Until just this week, the 480 was even worse...but now the egg has an ASUS 480 at $200...or even better the MSI Gaming X for $209 +$20 MIR.

Needless to say, etailers took major advantage of the poor availability at launch (more so than is to be expected) and really put the screws to anyone wanting the "VR Ready! RX480 for only $199!"

I tried to wait it out but my old 7950 gave up the ghost on me...went with a Sapphire 480 Nitro for $240 and hit the $25 off $200 PayPal/Newegg promo...that took some of the sting (and resentment) out of it...lol

As for the Nitro...great little card and I actually like the less 'in-your-face, look at me' stealthy design. It's a lil loud when it spins up all the way but it very rarely works that hard. As with all cards I get, I got rid of the factory thermal paste and applied the good stuff...always good for a few degrees, sometimes several. Next up will be an 'open' bios and a bit of clocking...hoping I hit the silicon lottery.
