Bloody B840 Keyboard

Bloody is a new gaming peripherals brand A4Tech recently introduced. Today, we take a look at their new B840 keyboard with the new optical Bloody LK2 switch. It promises a long lifespan, extremely fast response times, and a clicky response, which is new for optical switches.

I've never seen "bloody" for a product name. Kinda weird.

The branding is attention grabbing one way or the other, and in this congested market perhaps that is a good move to gain awareness.

The name is so ridiculously offensive and un-PC that I would actually buy it if the products are good quality.

Sounds promising how ever 1 year warranty is pretty lame and top of that for $130 i can get a fully programmable keyboard which is a requirement.

As for the name meh what ever don't matter in the end as long as the product is good.

One other thing that's bothering me is how the shift \ spacebar is done, i like fake switches personally not bar type designs, although seems like more thought been put in this design but not 100% sure about it more so due to heavy usage of the right shift i use a lot and not centered too.

Based on my experience with the other Bloody products, the street price of $90 will be more or less permanent. Time past the holiday season will confirm.

I will say that this is the best implementation of stabilizers I have used so far, but I can definitely appreciate different approaches of course.

Brand is popular among hacker/macro maker crowd for there bloody brand mice and it softwares.

I used an a4tech long long ago as a gaming mouse. This brings back many memories.
It had purple leds inside with red led from the mouse sensor had a unique looking effect.

Well it could be 20$ and it be no good to me ( gaming wise ), a fully programmable keyboard is a must due to lazy programmers, looking at you Bethesda Game Studios and a bunch of others.

And that one year is hardly standing by their product.

You can re-assign the majority of the keys on this keyboard. It's not fully programmable in that the number pad is excluded, but fairly decent there.

The post above by natr0n is hilariously true. Their mice have the functionality to enable macros and combos that is not easy to detect by anti-cheat software. But that's a whole different story for another time.

This is their idea of a mechanical gaming keyboard, so at least the design is ok. They have cheap stuff though, probably won't last very long.

Haha I can see that. On the other hand, easier to replace a cable pulled out than a permanent connector broken by force.

Well, I have a keyboard with detachable cable, and it's the worst part of it. It was quite difficult to get the cable both firmly plugged and fixed into the routings so that the keyboard does not rest on the cable. I really wish the cable was fixed, like the one on my mouse. I've have fixed cables all my life and I've never had any of them break.

That sounds like a poor implementation to be honest. Decently planned keyboards with detachable cables have full size or micro USB, generally angled in and with cable management counted for. That particular keyboard you had, I would probably count the cable as a con too.

You mean a cable that probably has a none standard USB connection plug and a connector that could all so go faulty in the keyboard.

Yes, quite. Hardly ever in my experience.

I have used about 15 non-OEM keyboards so far, with 2 having had issues that necessitated a cable change. Both were a result of an.. intense LAN session with some friends being a touch too liberal with them lol. One had a removable cable, it had a standard female micro USB connector on the keyboard so was easy to replace with a spare phone charging cable. The other required rewiring the internal USB cable. I can only speak for my experience of course, but it does happen enough to where I see others mention this as well. That said, I can see why some prefer non-removable cables now as mentioned above so henceforth I will not count it as an absolute negative point. Ditto with aesthetics, to each their own
