Dual Boot Windows question.

Hi Lads.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my Machine and i would like to give a try to Windows 10 but i don't want to delete the W7 so the only thing that i could do is install W10 on a second SSD, but my concern is: having 2 OS wouldn't cause issues?

I had it before with XP/7 (on the same disk 2 partitions) which wasn't a problem, however I don't know how it does with dual boot W7/W10....

Just remember if u want UEFI on Windows 10 u most have UEFI on your Windows 7 too if not u need to go change it in the bios everytime u want to go back to Windows 7.

Because i was thinking about the drivers, W7 install it is own Updates/drivers for the Motherboard and i guess W10 does the same what it makes me think that W10 Updates/drivers will overwrite the W7 one, or am i wrong?

Nah, each operating system will have it's own drivers.

You need to install Steam if your games are on Steam, GFE is optional.

But yes GFE should be able to find your games on your disk(s).

if u have Origin, Uplay and Steam they should work, but as @P4-630 says install the client and tell the client where the games are installed so they will verify the game and u should be go to go, this is why i got my steam client on the same drive as my games.

I have my Steam and it's library installed on separate drive. After re-installing Windows i simply launch Steam from that drive and it would recognize all of my games right away. Without even installing Steam, it does everything automatically. That's why i like it so much.

I have installed W10 but i have to go to work in a few minute so if i have any kind of issues with the Games i will post tonight after work.

Dual boot with windows 7 and windows 10 is pretty smooth tbh. Each will sit on its own volume, meaning drivers for each os will go to the correct directory on the correct volume.
As for games, windows 10 is pretty tolerant in as where you install them. There is little clutter of directories all over the place. Even installing on a different volume will work perfectly and will uninstall just as good too.
Running a game once on win10 and saving it, will create your savegame folder and it's there where you need to copy your old saves from windows 7.
I have several files shared from a third backup drive, both windows installs use them just fine without a problem.
Only thing you really need to keep an eye out for though, is the save path, you want your drivers, images and music files etc on the proper location.

I very recently had a windows 7/windows 10 db PC.

After your first Time starting up in selecting which OS you want after the bio splash screen windows 10 actually creates a selection screen with a nice fancy pretty graphic user interface. Actually by default what it's doing is loading windows 10 so when you pick seven it restarts the computer. I personally didn't like the GUI selection screen as far as performance wise it worked pretty well this was up to last week that I was running this PC

I got mine for 17 euro iirc from one of those shady e-shops but no problems so far.
Another option is to become Windows Insider so you can use it for free. They would track your activities even when you buy it so I'm not sure if there's any difference

the insider option is good, but i recommend going with the "slow ring" for updates...thats the closest thing to a retail ver of win 10 for free. Also, keep in mind Any win 7 key will activate win 10, just as a reminder....

Oh it's 110% true trust me I've used Windows 7 keys to upgrade several Windows machines ,try it yourself.I was pleasantly surprised myself the first few times I did it iirc slp key worked too

I would always recommend getting your motherboard drivers from the motherboard vendor's web site, in your case Asus....this is important and I 100% advise this.

I have all Drivers downloaded from Asus website in a USB, btw, the board comes with a CD drivers.
