How often do you clean you PC & how?

Recently reinstalled the HTPC downstairs and it was CAKED in dust. Not sure what happened, but I guess it reflects how much I care about that box.

It even runs a non genuine Win 7. Living on the edge!
well, some people are enthusiast cleaners... so you decide of giving a start on cleaning or leave it as it its

I've decided to postpone the cleaning until it catches fire, or I decide to upgrade it to W10.

So it'll probably catch fire.

My main rig is spotless though! Relatively...

I dust it out about every 3 months I think...
Using my dads air compressor blowing out the dust.

The dustfilters only maybe once every 6 weeks maybe if I don't forget it.

Not very often, every year or two, whether it needs it or not! 'duster' cans, , ,

I just clean the filters and wipe down the outside every 6 months

Long bristle (non used)paint brush "CLEAN" and soft, with compressed air.

I live in an area with high humidity, you need to keep the dusk off because it sticks and will not come off with air alone. So filters is the way to go and positive pressure. On the plus side no static to worry about

interesting, due some repairs at home and other activities i have plenty ... all my hardware... so decided to clean,

I clean at least twice a year, more often if it's needed.
When I had an A.I.O. installed it was easy, I could unscrew the radiator and vacuum the dust out with the fan off, now that has died it's harder with the stock cooler, it needs to be wiped and then the case cleaned out.

I clean my older Computers with cleaner and water. I rince Them under shower and let Them dry. As long as its Fully dry nous problem with electricity Aftermath.

My room is a dust magnet so i try and clean the pc at least once a month and i will use what ever i have to hand including the hated vacuum cleaner.

Yeah i know static static staic thats why i sit on a metal plate :p

Too bad its not a chix magnet. ;)

once every 6-8 months with swiffers and a compressed air can...

My room collects dust like crazy and literally ten days after cleaning it gets so dusty that I can commonly write letters on dark horizontal surfaces. PC is no exception. Usually I clean (wash) air filters two or three times a week. I completely clean the whole PC (case, components, monitor, keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, speakers) approximately once a month. Tools for the job are: 50-liter air compressor @ 4 bars, wet "baby" wipes, 30mm wide soft paint brush and microfiber cloth.

Where Do you live to bé so dusty?

@JunkBear: suburban area (outskirts of one city)

i just took mine down to fit a new mobo and stuff.. the fans that spin slowly all the time even slowly had a fair dust build up on them.. the two gpu fans which only come on when gaming had next to nothing.. there is a strong case to make for all fans to stop spinning whist browsing and the like.. which for me at least is most of the time..

i know my fans dont need to spin all the time i just havnt got round to rigging a system where they all stop automatically when the machine is basically idling.. one day i might.. :)

basically if the gpu fans can stop they all can.. i dont use filters and use a compressor and a two inch paint brush for the stubborn grime which is mostly on the fan blades.. my room is pretty dusty..

Should build à wood panel that you put on your window with à fan that push thé air toward the outside. The négative ventilation Will keep thé dust out.

When the CPU/Video card HS is covered in dust but not clogged.
No static timeframes as sometimes I hacve to clean it sooner due to usage differences
Using a compressed air can near a window.

It depends on the type of case and where the computer is located.

I keep my computer on my desk, in a large room which only I use.
The case is a Switch 810.
The components inside get only very fine dust on them because the rest is caught by the filters.
I clean the filters every 2 or 3 months, and the inside every 6 months.
I can clean inside the case using only a can of airspray, and this is how the main front intake filter looks after a month of use while everything inside is still dust-free:

On the other hand my teen keeps her tower on the floor and in her bedroom (imagine a teen's bedroom...)
The case is a pretty but cheap old Aerocool with no filters.
When we clean it we have to use an air compressor and a small paint brush because the layers of dust get caked on the components and there'd be tight balls of fluff hiding in every corner.
It's a PITA to clean, we have to dismantle the front piece which is held only by (now very worn out) plastic clips.
We have to clean it every 3 weeks minimum, because after 4 weeks check photo below!
The case has no filters, and here is how the front intake fan looks after a month of use. You're supposed to see a turbine-like fan there but it's invisible for all the fluff!

Regards,
Get it. One of the best purchases I have made. I also use it to clean products I sell on eBay. You can ditch all your filters and your case will be quieter and cooler for it. Then just blast it out once a month. My small atx case sits on my desk so its not too dusty.

i was waiting for some advised about them ! its great to hear that its a pretty useful device, will look for it in a couple of weeks, i need to save some pennies!

Regards,

Cleaned my PC exterior every month using damp microfiber cloth. The inside when the back of my graphics card covered with enough dust for me to bother cleaning it using brush and vacuum, I see it from the case top fan mount

As my desktop has the side panel removed and collects a little dust I just put the vacuum hose on the cleaners exhaust and blow out all the dust.
Works wonders!
