AMD's Upcoming RX Vega Card Pictures Surface

I hope 1440p HD Monitors come down in price. I am looking for one with AMD's FreeSync. And they are Expensive, so much that I can find 4K monitors for cheaper lol. Then again, in Canada everything is well overpriced.

The price of 4K monitors is so stupidly high you can basically buy a mid tier 55'' 4K TV for the same price when they're on sale. I paid $760 for my 55'' Samsung KS8000 series -_-

Sure mate, a CPU that costs less than half the price of equally performing Intel and only marginally loses to insanely clocked 7700k in games is not a definition of destruction. How!?

Btw, I own Intel, I'm not a fanboy.

Price/perf on multitasking, Ryzen is most definitely a win. But i don't use the term 'destruction' lightly.
It also doesn't beat the HEDT Intel chips across the board. Intel wins some and AMD wins some.

And at 1440p, there are still titles, Fallout 4 (i think) which show Ryzen desperately far behind Intel.

But anyway, way off topic, this is a Vega thread.
 
With half the price, it wins in everything even if it loses at something by 2 seconds or 5 frames...
 
Ryzen blows that 7700K into the dust in Multitasking. That's a known fact. Excluding Gaming. But as soon as you GAME at 1440p, Ryzen is on par with the 7700K.

No it isn't, not in most of the games anyway, in fact sometimes 7700k is even faster on some benchmark, don't forget a thing: At the end of the story, the thing that matters most in CPUs is clock and ipc, even in blenders and such.


And even at 1080p, both CPU's push framerates so high it doesn't even matter if Ryzen has 20fps less when both push out like 100+ fps... Like, who cares at that point!?

What are you talking about? 20 fps, do you know how much is 20 on like 100+? It's a lot of difference.

Semantics. If you're already getting 100+FPS you don't NEED another 20FPS. You may want but it's certainly not going to make or break anything. I'll live with 20FPS less, the world will go on, I'm not even sure why you're trying to make a big deal about it.

Listen, ryzen is very good and everything but some people just need to excuse every piece of weakness it might have.

It's not an ideal gaming CPU, especially when the counterpart costs less or the same and the main thing you care about is gaming. 20 fps is a lot of difference in every game and even with a 60 hz monitor even because higher maximums are often followed by higher avgs and higher minimums.
Don't really give me that "You wouldn't need 20 fps more" bs, because it's not like you have 600+ fps in every game and 20 more or less make no difference, we're shy past 100 fps and those 20 fps are roughly 20% more, imagine a game which was so heavy it could take your 1700x pc down to 40/45 fps, wouldn't you use 20 fps more in that situation? Or imagine a monitor with more than 60hz...

Then if you want to talk which one is the best overall buy or value or more future proof, i can i agree as much as you want.

The games that are so heavy to tank performance to those levels also run as total crap on 7700k. Your point being?

Climbing mirrors very much i see. Games, as of today, run better on 7700k stop trying to avoid that, it's a fact.

it's a 20% difference. If that is the same with games who can't reach 100 fps, that's a pretty significant difference. Could mean the difference between playable and not.
 
Things aren't always linear you know. What's 20% in this scenario it doesn't mean it'll be 20% in some other. Which has been proven already between resolutions alone, not to mention between games as well... And trust me, 7700k won't age as well as the 1800X. The fact that there are quite many games that can utilize all 16 threads on Ryzen tells that very clearly.
 
True.. but it can be. Until performance bugs are fixed, its just not something I would jump on unless I needed more than 8 threads.

Fine not always 20% but they very very rarely go down to something like 5% or lower, most of the times it's 10-20%. And yes, when going past 1080p, difference thins, but not by much, and mainly because the 7700k loses points

I still haven't seen a CPU that uses correctly more than 12 threads yet, so i don't know where you saw that
 
GTA5 from what, 2 years now? Battlefield 1. Also, those % are so awesome. Just like with graphic card benches. 15% difference. And then you convert that into framerate and it's like 4 fps difference. WOOOOOOW

Personally, I don't buy systems and intentionally put a glass ceiling on my components if I can help it.

GTA doesn't use more than 12 threads last I recall...its using 8 on my 7700K.. I dont have it installed on the 6950X system.. to test, sorry.

Watch JayZTwoCents video on Youtube where he runs several games in realtime on Ryzen 1800X with OSD for each core...

No game does...yet.
Look at 7700k with 100mhz more than the 1800x having almost 30fps more, yes it's 1080p, so we can expect the difference to thin as we go up, but we're still talking about min 10-15% difference and at those numbers 10-15% matter. Again, Clock and IPC is what matters most in CPUs, in every scenario, even core bound ones.

EDIT: I actually didn't take into account the boost of the 7700k so it's 4,5GHz, 400mhz faster than 1800X while playing games, but still...

I can't wait to AMD launch Vega to compare with GTX1080Ti.
But valid information I will get on TPU because I can compare here immediately with previous generation in games, 3D tests and to see expecting temperature.
On techpowerup is for me best for information about graphic cards and processors, memories, SSD, etc... PSU I check techpowerup and johnnyguru.
