QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced its new powerful Thunderbolt 3 NAS - TVS-1282T3 that features 7th Generation Intel 14nm multi-core processors, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, HDMI output, and higher transfer speeds than its previous generation. Providing superior functionality and huge storage potential, the TVS-1282T3 is a perfect match for the Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro, and is backward-compatible with Thunderbolt 2-enabled devices by using a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 converter. The high-bandwidth Thunderbolt 3 connection provides great advantages for video editing and sharing, making the TVS-1282T3 highly suited for Thunderbolt 3-enabled Mac and Windows users for 4K media workflows, file storage, and high-speed sharing.
"We are very excited to offer the pioneering Thunderbolt 3 NAS to the market," said David Tsao, Product Manager of QNAP, adding "with more Windows devices featuring Thunderbolt 3 and the latest Final Cut Pro X 10.3 adding support for the SMB protocol, the TVS-1282T3 empowers cross-platform file sharing while greatly improving teamwork and workflows between Mac and Windows users."
The TVS-1282T3 leverages 7th Generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 quad-core processors to provide unmatched performance. Besides Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, the TVS-1282T3 can also simultaneously run general Ethernet services with the built-in 10GbE LAN card, providing an exclusive Thunderbolt/NAS/iSCSI triple solution for a wider range of applications. Thunderbolt 3 ports are also compatible with USB Type-C cables/devices and supports 10 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen2, allowing compatibility with newer, faster USB devices for transferring large files. QNAP's innovative Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet (T2E) technology allows computers without Ethernet ports to access 10GbE network resources over a Thunderbolt connection to the TVS-1282T3, introducing much more flexible and cost-effective ways of data transfer.
The TVS-1282T3 features advanced hardware for greater efficiency, including SATA 6Gbps M.2 SSD slots, 2.5" SSD slots, compartmentalized smart cooling, and tool-less HDD installation. QNAP's Qtier technology empowers auto tiering that helps continuously optimize storage efficiency across M.2 SSD, SSD and SATA drives on the NAS, and these different storage media can be configured as independent partitions for different applications to ensure a sufficient throughput level for every application. With multiple network ports, it allows applications to use dedicated interfaces to meet network traffic distribution requirements.
The TVS-1282T3 features the intelligent QTS 4.3 operating system that provides key elements required to create a dependable private cloud, including backup/restore, sharing, remote access, and management. Advanced applications include: QRM+ centralized management solution for discovering, mapping, monitoring and managing critical networked computing devices (including servers, PCs, and thin clients) with the support for a graphical topology diagram; Virtualization Station that hosts Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Android based virtual machines on the NAS; Container Station to empower near-limitless LXC and Docker containerized apps and IoT development; Qfiling and Qsirch for effortlessly organizing and searching for files, providing a highly-efficient data storage center.
The TVS-1282T3 accommodates up to 80 TB raw capacity (using 10 TB hard drives), and can be expanded by connecting up to six QNAP Thunderbolt expansion enclosures ( TX-800P and TX-500P). The storage capacity can also be expanded by using VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) that leverages the unused storage capacity of other QNAP NAS, providing a reliable, high-capacity storage solution for the growing high-resolution media files.
