Whoever paid $1200 for the previous Titan got their money's worth. What they didn't get is the vain feeling of having the best for the amount of time they had hoped.

Don't be the guy that cries because there is a new shinier toy. Enjoy tech progress. Or keep waiting for Vega.

Considering 471 sq.mm is not the usual 600 sq.mm. Not the true Titan-class card but somewhere in between. Theoretical HBM2 enabled 5760 Cuda gpu could surface in next 2 years, and they can stick to 16nm, amusing, but they will adopt 12nm. witch will in turn shrink Titan to a GTX 1070/1080 class card... (or even 1060).

For a tech forum... when something faster comes along, you sure are surprised.

The 1080 Ti is already twice as fast as Fury X, for the love of God AMD... show up.

Titan Xp or X:p. The WORST value/money card ever produced. I guess they should rename this to Sucker XXL card or something instead of Titan X*.
Literally, you have to be dumb as frack to buy this kind a card.

No joke, AMD literally haven't turned up, it boggles the mind, but hey ho.

Unless the $1500 Radeon Pro Duo was your thang.

Just imagine if they had released a fully enabled gp102 when that chip 1st launched. It would've held the most powerful GPU spot by a factor of like five  c'mon AMD , i  you, but im starting to no longer feel the passion from the 5xxx & 69xx era

Haha ok buddy. Based on what?

Not saying it will, but why are you so sure?

Specs put it even with two RX480's with HBM added. Let's assume perfect scaling for the core architecture, that makes it about even with a 1080 on a good day. The 1080Ti is faster yet and this card is even faster than that. At best AMD could release another pro duo style card using two of the vega's and hope crossfire works.

They can sell dirt cheap 480's and keep their current marketshare. So why try?

-The 5870 was better
-The 7970 was better
-The 290X was better

^But it didn't matter. People wanted to buy Nvidia because "It's the way it's meant to be played". Why try? They can profit and sell 480's.

I think Vega will challenge the 1080 Ti, but that's normal. AMD launches a mega card every 2 years, and then scrapes by in-between. Get used to it.

Someone can't read a chart:

https://tpucdn.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_1080_Ti_Xtreme_Gaming/images/perfrel_2560_1440.png

Perfect scaling places it within 10% of the 1080 Ti, and that's only if we double the 480.

Vega's specs are OVER double the 480, and it is a completely new arch with some pretty crazy claims. We don't know how strong Vega 10 will be yet, but at a minimum it will be close to a 1080 Ti.

If Vega can get between 1080 and a Ti for price of the former, I'd call that a win.

Haha I won't.

It's been 2 years. AMD needs to beat the 1080 Ti and AT LEAST come close to the new Titan XP. The price doesn't matter when it has been this long.

The only way it would be ok is if the top Vega card traded blows (While mostly losing) with the 1080 Ti but costed $400. That would kinda be a 6970 situation.

I like that ebay still has titan X (Pascal) for 950-1000,- $ right now in sold listings (not asking price - but sold price) ... even one in 05.april for 1250,- $ and another one for 1150,-$... do not blame nvidia for screwing the early adopters - I guess noone looses if you can sell your 1200$ gpu after one year (almost) of use for 1200$ (or around 1100$) even though you just red a review of much newer and better card... and those who bought it used on ebay for full price now - well I guess they have money - so they have at least that going for them :)

I wonder if people have learned anything from buying over the top overpriced Titans and getting screwed over it constantly... From the looks of it they'll buy them again and ask for some more next time again...

Why do people always have this crazy idea that AMD cards should perform the same as NVIDIA cards, but cost 300 bucks less. Because logic... !?

I think AMD has been preoccupied with Ryzen and Project Scorpio. Vega is actively being developed by RTG but production of Vega is on the back burner because of Ryzen. Scorpio is being produced by TSMC so that won't interfere with Vega production.

AMD is really sitting pretty good right now. They have great bang for the buck GPUs and CPUs. Vega is a pretty major change architecturally so AMD is fine with RTG polishing it for an extended time.

Where Vega sits relative to Titan Xp, 1080 Ti, and 1080 is ultimately going to be determined by the clockspeeds they can make it run at. I think AMD has an idea what that will be but it isn't finalized yet.

At least we now know why NVIDIA priced the 1080 Ti at the price they did.

Something that most people missed about RX Vega. When they showed doom running at 4k 60 on RX Vega, only 3 of the 8 activity/load leds were lit up, which I think means that running Doom 2016 ultra at 4k60 is an easy task for Vega. I think Vega will surprise a lot of people in terms of raw performance.

People that have purchased Titan X get a massive finger....
You mean exactly like everyone who bought a Titan card ever?

Seriously, Nvidia's business model for the titan is: Release a Titan, then release a Ti card with half the ram that performs better, then if there's time release an even beefier Titan.

Titan --- 780ti --- Titan Black.

Titan X'15) --- 980ti

Titan X'16) --- 1080ti --- Titan X'17

Anyone who bought a Titan X'16 and genuinely didn't expect that there would definitely be a faster ti coming plus possibly an even faster Titan is a victim of their own noobishness.

Oh what a nice finger up the ass of all those 1080ti adopters...
Classic nvidia.
When AMD releases refined products; the crowd cheers.
When Nvidia releases refined products; everyone complains.

Pascal, remember, is just an optimized Maxwell on a smaller processing node. Volta will be the actual new architecture, and be designed to use HBM.
Pascal is still a larger improvement than any of the GCN revisions. It's been many years since AMD released a new GPU architecture.

I was thinking windows xp64 with crysis 64bit and this card...IMAGINE
I was thinking of the perfect match:

NVIDIA Titan X(P) Pascal 2 Mk.2 Revision 2 Version 2 12GB.

NVIDIA, your naming scheme is garbage!
Please, do it the AMD way instead; rebrand the whole lineup every time there are two new cards!

GCN isn't an architecture, it's the name of a series of architectures (there's 5 in the series so far with a 6th arriving in 2018)

NVIDIA, your naming scheme is garbage!
In fairness this is mostly a PEBKAC issue, people who are confused are confused because they made up their own name for the second Titan-X and Nvidia is using that name for the third one. Had people called them by their proper names (Geforce GTX Titan-X and Nvidia Titan-X) then it wouldn't have been an issue.

IMO the easiest solution would have been to just refer to them by their year, I.E Titan-X '15 and Titan-X '16. That would have avoided any confusion with the Titan-Xp which if desired could have been referred to as Titan-X '17. Hell you could even drop the apostrophe and call them X15, X16, X17 as that's cool lol.
