I am assuming Vega is either going to be dubbed the RX 590 or the RX Fury. Either way, if it has 8GB of HBM, along with better specs than the Fury X, then it will probably be one of the best cards out there. If it gets released between $450 and $600, we will be seeing an epic price war between AMD and Nvidia. Honestly, AMD has really been kicking ass this year.

Hope not, for some reason i have never liked the Pro/XT naming from the old Ati times.
Think its probably going to be RX Vega x and RX Vega.

It might kick ass on percentage of FPS increase using Vulkan vs OpenGL or DirectX, but it's unlikely it will come anywhere near the 1080 Ti. Then again, Nvidia can't expect to get more than 20% increase when you're already performing so well on OGL.

So that's not really an ass kicking when they can't produce a GPU that can outdo Nvidia even in actual Vulkan FPS. A lot of people thought Ryzen would have Intel lowering prices, but frankly, those fluctuations are normal for CPUs that have been out nearly a year.

With Ryzen they are finally competitive with Intel again- that hasn't happened since the early 2000s. The fact that they produced a 52% performance increase from the FX lineup is probably one of the craziest things to happen in the CPU industry in years. Plus there are more Ryzen CPUs to be released which is nothing to scoff at. I am not a fan of AMD's current cards because they are under performers, but I firmly beleive that AMD will also close the gap against Nvidia. Either way, we all win because competition is good. Also, Vega will utilize HBM 2- which is currently superior to anything that Nvidia has. I like Intel, and I like AMD, so either way its going to be an exciting year. Also, considering that the highest end Vega GPU will have 16GB of HBM 2- it would surpass even the Titan XP.

Don't get me wrong, I want AMD to do well and bring back health competition, and they are on their way to doing that, but they need to get smarter. Otherwise they're going to keep taking a step forward while taking a step back. Like the way they were too paranoid to share needed info with MB and RAM manufacturers to avoid the compat problems they're facing with Ryzen.

All I'm saying is they are in no way kicking ass to Intel or Nvidia. They're really just barely getting back to being competitive.
