Hey @W1zzard I just ran the new YouTube in dark mode and totally love it!

Any way TPU can have the same option for a black background?

New dark mode? It's still the same for me. :O

Xenforo allows for multiple color schemes.. Usually a theme choice can be added somewhere like at the bottom of the menu...
I'm sure it's a PTA tho

I totally support this!
All websites should be easy on the eyes and get rid of WHITE background and learn from e-books and health institutions..
My main news"paper", and main national newspaper www.elpais.com has a button to switch between white and black background and it is wonderfull!
I also use dark mode everywhere it is available: desktop MS Office, everything on my Lumia phone, on my tablet... etc...

Maybe it requieres a programming effort and checking that it works... but, yes!

As an alternative, browsers now do have a dark mode plugin. I am using Edge with "Turn off the light"and it is okay. But its better if the designer of the webpages does this... Or not? not sure.
As i said, I don't know how much extra work this is!

I see lights out in the windows store but wont install till a game update is done but I'll report back on if it works..

I installed turn off the lights in Edge but it's not as "elegant" as in Chrome, it simply "lowers the brightness" of th page instead of changing bakground colors and text (like customizing CSS).
Anyway it's nice to have it at least until W1zz implements it

I too enjoy another browser (edge does a lot of what i like really well) however, when it comes to things like this "dark mode" situation, i find its worth switching to ff for this & other activities. It's so easy importing and exporting a person's preferences passwords and bookmarks between browsers there's really no reason to not use more than one Unless you really have some issue with other ones ofc.

A little piece of advice, Many monitors support a low light mode in someway shape or form if you look at the menus

I jumped onto Firefox 53 beta even at work because it has a dark theme. So yes, these days I appreciate anything that will go dark.

Is that plugin working equally well for all browsers? Should users have to install a plugin to make one site blend in with the rest of their desktop?

Plus, from the screenshots TPU+that plugin=pretty terrible.

If users want them to match then yeah( that's literally what add-ons are there for). Surely you can't expect every website to cater towards each users preference? Don't get me wrong I certainly believe it would be nice to have a dark mode on techpowerup, but to expect A website to match your PC's theme is silly. Running TPU is (im assuming) a fair bit of work, most important is that it runs smoothly, and consistently, After which esthetic concerns come in, I can appreciate that staff has a busy job, and might not be able to facilitate this request (no problem with asking though) but the way you put it, it reads like you dont appreciate the Current design of TPU....

Yes, matching random themes would be silly. But these days it's becoming increasingly more common for websites to offer dark themes.
I'd rather the dark theme came from the site itself rather than a plugin doing its best trying to figure out how the dark version would look best.
