Professional workloads are known to tax graphics cards like few do (well, Furmark would beg to differ, wouldn't it), and AMD is looking to cover all of its bases when it comes to the liquid cooling needs of its pioneers, its graphics professionals that will get a taste of Vega before any other consumer.

This gold-colored graphics card will join its strikingly blue air-cooled counterpart in accelerating mission-critical data crunching and other machine learning tasks, with better cooling to boot. The fact that professionals are getting a reference-design liquid-cooled Vega graphics card could be a fortuitous sign of things to come towards the consumer, gaming Vega side of the market, but it's all still up in the air for the moment.

RX Vega "Bling edition" (the gold one) apparently. ;)

Do we have pricing on these yet?

It will be interesting to see how/if the LC OCs and performs on game titles.

If the price/performance is right it may even work for those that by Titans for gaming.

If it's that kind of pricing (~€1200) it's too rich for me though, irrespective of the performance.

Haha, you may want to rethink that figure, it's not a gaming card, try multiplying that figure by 5 maybe.

I highly doubt 120/140 sized radiators will be anymore adequate than a 3 fan cooling solution. Here's to hoping for 240/280 solution. :toast:

That (probably overpaid) team of designers must of had such a difficult job coming up with a shroud design like that.

Raja Koduri says:
Can you game on a Radeon Vega Frontier Edition? The answer is yes, absolutely. But because this graphics card is optimized for professional use cases (and priced accordingly), if gaming is your primary reason for buying a GPU, I’d suggest waiting just a little while longer for the lower-priced, gaming-optimized Radeon RX Vega graphics card. You’ll be glad you did.

Or water!

Seriously though, I like everyone else was disappointed by this. I've been on the fence about building a Ryzen rig, but I wanted a Vega to go with it. Way to long with the Green Team being the only game in the high-end town.

Long PCB for no memory chips.
It's a dual solution?

That's why it's not gaming oriented.

My thought anyway.

On 2nd look at backplate, single gpu. But why the long PCB?

why would it need 240/280? The 295x2 was a dual GPU power monster, and it did quite well with a 120. The fury X, the titan XP OCed, ece all do fine with a 120.

VEGA shouldnt need a 240 to run properly.

This chip should be interesting against even the GV100 core vs core vega should be 8.3% faster. If they could manage make the chip 25% it could put out 16.5 TFLOPS now power and chip size is a whole different ballgame.

Additional cooling for the reason of the pcb length.

So, if I am getting this all right then the rumors say it's basically a 1600Mhz Fury X with a more RAM?

The new architecture seems to be just improved memory controller... and 14 nm... They ought to be able to cram a lot more into the chip then, right? I wonder what it is!

There's something i'm not understanding with this: aren't these kind of cards supposed to be placed in passively
At least the hype is on fire.

Judging by this topic's title, i'd say it's on water ...

You've missed all the stories outlining the new stuff packed in Vega, then.

I'm waiting for Vega still. It's been so long. There's the Frontier one but where's my gaming thingy ?? Wonder what Raja meant by saying you'd be glad to wait for gaming Vega. I hope it's not just price but performance as well. I wish it would knock me off my chair when I see the performance and benches. Actually I'm waiting for this to happen :)

My guess would be that it has higher clocks than this, or something similar nice. :)
