I just received my Rocket Kit and Conductonaut, so will have a play this weekend on my 7700K. Never been happy with me load temps on this sample of 7700K at 4.8ghz under custom water with 60 mins of Prime 95 I am hitting 83c with 1.3vcore. My Ryzen 1700 at 4.0ghz under the same conditions with 1.3875vcore hit 73C. While I realize that this is not apples to apples comparison I was impressed with the Ryzen overclocked temps, double the cores and higher vcore.... Anyhow, off topic, I will report back next week with some temps based on delidded 7700k and Conductonaut.

Take your time, have fun and let us know how it worked out! Follow the guides on the Rockit website for more specific details, they are well written.

Well that was easy enough. Delidded my 7700K and used Conductonaut under the IHS and Kryonaut under the waterblock. After 60mins of Prime 95 in a closed case maximum temps were down from 88C to 67C!!!! Ridiculous 21C difference at load with the 7700K at 4.8ghz with a 1.3vcore. What utter buggers Intel were to use such terrible TIM under their IHS.

Oh by the way I used the Rockit tool to delid and it was an absolute joy to use. I also used super glue rather than silicone to re-seal IHS.

That's great to see, I am glad you had a good experience. That's a good drop in temps too, in line with what I got as well.

Waiting for my de8aeur delid-die mate to delid the i7-6700K. At pressent
4.8 @ 1.44v - throttles
4.7 @ 1.35v - max temps 85C
4.6 @ 1.265v - max temps 78C

I'll be happy with 4.7Ghz to be honest but at much lower temps. Hoping deliding will reduce it.

I have a quite inquisitive question.

If delidding only costs 30 or so US dollars for a kit, and it results in a 10-20 degree drop in temps even with just replacing the intel TIM with quality TIM. Would it be worth it to delid, use MX4 or Arctic, etc, then relid. And then just run it with a good air cooler? (DH-15S).

It would effectively be giving you water cooling 'lidded temps', with a delidded air cooler setup.

Anyone tried it?

Most tend to just watercool a non-delidded CPU to get and not void warranty. So those who do go the whole way end up going further than air cooling as well to make the most of it. I know a couple who did just air cooling for a while on de-lidded CPUs but were always planning to have a custom loop later on when budget allowed.

They are in Florida, unlikely that they will rent a delidder internationally, the shipping will be crazy expensive. I believe that you are in Spain? You can likely buy a tool for delidding locally, or just go old school and use a single edged blade, there are plenty of videos on delidding on Youtube.
