I'm tempted to buy one just in case it might actually be real. I can always get my money back through ebay if it's a fake or something, right?

Doubt it. My guess is these people potentially bought a fake card and they're trying to resell it to get their money back. That, or these accounts are hacked and the card doesn't actually exist. Either way, I wouldn't touch them.

I looked around on eBay and there's more than a few of these for sale ,both 1070s and 1080s. Ranging from as low as the in the $30 area all the way up to $800 or $900.

The weird thing is many of the sellers have a great deal of positive feedback from several years in many cases ,so my guess is they all either decided to abandon good accounts for a quick buck, or they've been hacked for a quick buck, it really doesn't matter though because the only time anyone is willing to sell you something at an extremely low price is when they're selling you bullshit. And at any price, bullshit is always a profit for the seller and a loss for the buyer

Most of the feedback is for buying stuff, not selling stuff. Those that I looked that had positive feedback for selling were just 1 in the last 6 months and it was from something completely unrelated to tech.

Ebay accounts get compromised, they change the email, password, and PayPal information, then they put up fake listings and any purchases made, they run away with the money. These listings fit that modus operandi.

You know guys, I'd be curious to have an investigative reporter buy these and report on what happens. I'm sure the details would be an eye opener.

I still don't quite get the long-running accounts though, unless they're genuine ones which have been compromised. I get the impression that eBay isn't overly concerned about this fraud either, or the listings would have been shut down by now and the accounts suspended, not merely ended listings.

it happens on Amazon but Amazon usually handles these things much faster than Ebay. Ebay "probably" actually investigates the seller.

Yes, these are definitely scams as there's no way these cards can legitimately be sold for a tenth of their normal price. Those "good" feedbacks can easily be arranged by shill accounts. Interesting that at least one of those accounts has existed since 2002 lol. Shows you just how much eBay really cares about fraud on their site.

If you're in the market for one of these, just get it from reputable dealer such as NewEgg etc and pay the normal price.

Yup, with passwords that were semi-secure 1.5 decades ago (usually less than 8 characters long in all lower case letters). Really easy to brute force.
