I'm not really sure the DL time for me would be worth 10 hrs of gameplay. Not saying it isn't nice to have free demo time, but considering the file size and my 15MB ISP, it's probably better I just wait until it's cheap. Plus they might do some more animation fixes. I heard the last patch didn't have many ani fixes though, and with talk of them putting ME on hold for other projects, there may not even be any more coming.

Except, like I said, I'm speaking specifically about animation fixes. I have to look at this realistically. The last fix had hardly any ani fixes, much less than the first one that had them. This is why I can't be confident they intend to fix anymore of them, and from what many say, there are a LOT more to fix, like the ones where NPCs walk like they took a dump in their pants. Thus it seems like it's only worth a bargain bin price, and clearly it isn't there yet.

Either my standards are too low or I do not see much needed fixing. Yes sometimes NPC guards in the Nexus are standing like taking a dump or the facial expressions are not movie like but this is minuscule compared to the story and content and the game and worlds still look beautiful. I love driving the Nomad in the desert on Eladeen for example

Knowing there's no paid single-player DLC coming and they fixed all they're going to fix, I think I'm okay with that price.

Game seems fine to me. Wasn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I enjoyed playing it.

Disappointed they dropped support for it so soon though. even if they weren't likely to break even on it you'd think they'd try to fix it more as a sign of good will and to try and bolster sales for future games. This announcement basically tells me that they're not just done with Andromeda, but that the ME series id basically over.

I wouldn't say that but the Mass Effect series is no doubt going on hiatus for a while. Next game won't be out until at least 2020, if not a few years after that. It will also probably be made by a small team with a lot of time like the original Mass Effect instead of a massive team with a short development window.

What bothers me as much if not more is that it may very well mean Dead Space is over too. These publishers that think going cheap on production seem to have no clue how it affects a franchise in both QC and fanbase. I'll support a strong franchise as long is it stays a quality production, but I'm not going to be a sucker for cash grabs.

Except Bioware no longer gets any say on basically anything.

EA calls the shots. Halting any plans for future DLC or improvements just really comes across as their way of saying they're basically considering it a failure not worth fixing or repeating. If they want to sell a sequel to it later then they just shot themselves in the foot.

One has to be skeptical whether one technical artist can make up the massive hole of writers that left the team. Sure, he was project lead on SW: KotOR, and the ME trilogy, but it really comes down to what amount of freedom EA gives him to bring back quality talent. Right now they're still obviously sorely missing expertise in writing and animations.

Weren't the hopeful comments before this announcement just saying they're not giving up on Andromeda though? There seems to be a pattern here. It's not about what needs to be made, it's about HOW it needs to be made. Until EA gets that through their heads, it won't matter what games they make, because they'll have lost too much of their fanbase to even make enough money to HAVE the option of making quality games. That's what they're clearly taking for granted.

You don't have to play the game if it comes out. There's no benefit to you if it doesn't come out.
You can hope they learn from their lessons and make a better game next time.
You can predict they haven't done so and/or won't make another game or that it won't be good.

You can even say that if another game is released you won't buy it.

Those are all valid.

But, instead what you said is you hope another game isn't released.

That's more akin to saying you hope your ex-girlfriend stays single forever. It's a stance that is nothing but spiteful and petty and behooves no one under any circumstances.

With Casey Hudson back, it will probably be sooner rather than later. Like, he may have already started preproduction it with a team of less than a dozen people.

Agree with Bee, everyone has their right to an opinion, and it's not like he was being personally snotty with anyone in voicing it. The fact is EA is waffling at best lately. While they are listening to fan input on games like Battlefront and Titanfall, they're not doing so well in other major titles like Mass Effect and Dead Space. They also gambled on BF Hardline, which was barely worthwhile and only after they added more popular play modes. Usually they take a their way or nothing approach. It's only because they've fallen into poor sales on many titles lately that they've finally started listening to fans, and even then, it's like they have one ear open, and the other closed.

When the bottom line becomes spending as little as possible making games, and choking creative freedom in the process, you lose your most talented staff and the quality of the games suffer. Everyone is aware of that but EA it seems.
