Why do my microphones always sound a lot better than yours, even though they're generally supposed to be worse? What do you actually use for your mic tests?

But than surely they would sound much better? I have a 4 year old OEM mobo for my a8 6600k (to be replaced by an i7 8700k and a GOOD mobo) that sounds better with the same mics. I don't even tweak my mic settings either. The only downside is the increased hissing, but my setup still sounds better than your setup overall. Have I got a magic mobo?

If you're referring to the background (static) noise that can be heard when the microphone is connected to the integrated sound card, that's going to be wildly different between different systems, as it comes down to the combination of built-in components. Starting from my last review where I was testing an analogue headset (https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Cooler_Master/MasterPulse_MH320/6.html), I switched from my X99 system to my Ryzen machine for microphone sample recording, which has an older Realtek audio chip but generally produces less noise. Better motherboard + newer chip doesn't necessarily lead to a cleaner microphone input.

However, when the headset is using USB or wireless (again USB, only via a dongle) connection, like this Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless, it will sound the same regardless of the system, as the integrated sound card isn't used at all.

That's also one of the reasons why I record every microphone by connecting it to an external USB sound card as well. That's a standard part of my every headset review and that's what you should use to judge the raw quality of the microphone, rather than the integrated audio chip it was connected to.

hmm... lack of 3.5mm jack is a bit of a letdown... but $100 price is quite compelling to get one. Would get the older Stereo model or wait for a newer, revised one... if they (Corsair) made one.

Go for it, you can simply stick with stereo mode and never use 7.1 anyway I do agree on the lack of wired functionality, though!

At the "Introduction" page you hoped "they made the bass a tad more present" did they ? I'm asking because I had corsair vengeance v1500 it was great and last long but it lacked the bass , I'm using the hyperx cloud stinger as a temporarily solution until I get something better .

Indeed they did! The bass is by no means overwhelming, but it's there when it's supposed to be. It's also significantly more clean and precise than that of the Cloud Stinger. The overall presentation is more neutral and natural, I found the Stinger quite colored in that sense (but quite good for the price). If you need more bass, you can always add it via the CUE. The equalizer is system-wide. Just don't use the Bass Boost preset, it's bad. Increase the bass manually, by playing with first three equalizer sliders until you're completely satisfied with what you hear.

Thank you , in Cloud Stinger I actually dropped the bass quite a lot to reach a normal level , but it's good to hear the Corsair VOID is good on all levels .

Such a minor improvement over its predecessor (which I'm using right now) that I'm wondering why Corsair even bothered, especially since they STILL didn't address the most glaring issue with this headset - namely, it lacks a physical button to disable/enabled the LEDs. That is literally the only reason I have CUE installed, to disable those damn LEDs.

And I still don't get why the hell anyone would want LEDs on a headset. You literally can't see them when you're wearing it! The only time you can see them yourself is when the headset is not in use, which means it's probably charging/powered down, which means... you won't see them.

I must say though, apart from the LEDs, they're a solid piece of kit. I'd had bad experiences with Corsair headsets in the past - in particular I went through 3 pairs of the infamous HS1A, all of which had the audio cable die on me, leading to me eventually getting a refund because I was sick of RMA'ing the damn things every 6 months.

But when my Logitech G930s died last year and couldn't be replaced because they're discontinued and there was no stock, the Void Wireless was pretty much the only option in the same price range with comparable features, so I decided to give Corsair's audio products another try - 9 months in, the Void Wireless is still going strong (touch wood), so I'm pretty happy with 'em.

My guess would be that dreaded "bling" factor -- especially considering the folks who are livestreaming. Corsair knows their target audience quite well.

I've learned a thing or 2 about headphones since getting the Corsair HS1A when it first came out, and am now using a Beyerdynamic Amiron Home + dedicated mic + Sound Blaster X7 Limited Edition (took me some years to get to that point, though).

You can charge it (via any USB port, a Micro-USB cable is provided) and use it at the same time, yes. When you do that, the headset stays wirelessly connected to the dongle. It's not using the wired USB connection to transfer audio but only to charge the battery. And there's no option to plug it in via standard 3.5-mm ports to use it like that, in "pure" wired mode.
