Processor sales numbers of leading German retailer Mindfactory.de show AMD Ryzen processors to be outselling Intel processors for the first time in over a decade. German and EU DIY PC buyers seem to have developed a taste for AMD Ryzen processors, which is reflecting in Mindfactory's sales figures. Since March 2017, when AMD launched its Ryzen 7 series, AMD processor sales have seen a steady growth from 28% (vs. 72% of Intel), to a stunning 56% by the end of August 2017. Mindfactory's sales is a test case of AMD's growth in the DIY processor market, which forced Intel to rush in its Core X family, and its 8th generation Core processor family, which could be out in Q3-2017.

Ryzen 5 1600 appears to be the most popular AMD choice among Mindfactory's customers, as the 6-core/12-thread processor strikes a price-performance sweet-spot at 198€. The chip is outselling the similarly-priced Core i5-7500 by two times, and the i5-7600K by three times. The 8-core/16-thread Ryzen 7 1700 is the second most popular AMD Ryzen part, priced at 288€. From the Intel camp, the Core i7-7700K still commands the single biggest chunk of Mindfactory's CPU sales. As expected, the Ryzen 7 1700X outsells the 1800X by five times. Also, the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X is outselling the Core i9-7900X by over three times. Find more interesting data in the beautifully drawn graphs by Redditor "Type-21."

That's really great for AMD. And it's amazing just to see them rise up and progress

Indeed, it shows the appreciation and enthusiasm of system builders with regards to the portofolio that AMD offers. I am happy to see some competition on the market, only Intel became boring.

That's great to hear. We also can't deny AMD's excellent products. Which is why they are selling so well. If only their graphics division had such success as well. It would be great for AMD and also for consumers if that was actually happening. I really hope Ryzen's future versions will provide good competition to continue this trend and that Navi will get AMD's graphic division back on track. If that happens, PC segment will have a very bright future.

Excellent news for AMD really.

Also the pricing graphs for intel and AMD is very telling, with AMD basically flat and intel dropping, in the case of the i7 6950x, dropping by almost 400 euros

R7 1600 is the best cpu from the vfm aspect for any pc enthusiast for a VERY long time. All the recent ones were overpriced due to the lack of competition. 7700K is selling just due to gaming performance atm. It will be irrelevant when i7 get 6 cores soon. R7 1600 will remain the best selling though until Ryzen gen 2 imho. Being unlocked is AMD's great gift to us also.

And competition helps customers VERY MUCH!

Still, there aren't many motherboards to choose from.
It will probably take years to match the amount of 1151 motherboards currently available on market.
Right now for AM4 we don't have a single PLX motherboard for those who want.
No beefy mATX that would handle real OC on 8core.
Just 3 (excluding duplicates) ITX motherboards.

Now they need to pull off another Ryzen in the GPU market. A good gaming card with crippled mining performance.

Great news but it probably only shows that people stopped buying Intels old stuff as Coffeelake is just around the corner...

I'm happy Intel has competition once again. Intel's pricing may or may not be significantly affected, but competition makes for better products overall.

Nice for AMD but really Mindfactory?
Is Mindfactory really usable as an appropriate source?

I mean they are the negative example for customer happiness as far as I've been handled and people I know.
So the antithesis to everything that is good handled by Amazon and likes.

Just imaging my latest happy experience with them by buying two RX Vega 56 for 406€ - nope never got it. They have first finish first serve. So Autobots FTW1!1!!!

Now AMD seems to sell more CPUs than Intel and that's the ONLY thing this article discuss. Not customer service. You are totally out of topic OR you just hurt that your favorite brand stopped selling well their overpriced and stagnant (in their tech for 5 years now apart from the manufacturing process) products?

Still can't decide if you only troll or if there is real meeing. In my case my first sentence against articles first sentence are valid reason for doubt.:
"Processor sales numbers of leading German retailer Mindfactory.de"

It is relevante for the article if the single source is trustable and if it is relevant to access other sources too. I think in the past a french company was the one quoted by tpu?

To feed the troll part: I use even via x86 processors and I have no good hair to split with all current manufacturer down to the shitty USB root hubs. Only a fraction get, appreciation, for a well done Design from me. And yep hating mindfactury for that prank and all others responsible is my troll part. If you are not able to differenciate "Sorry for you" :toast:, try to ignore that habit thanks.

In all seriousness he is right. Here in the US we have Best Buy and while lots of people buy stuff from them you don't want to go to them if you need a new computer. Still I'd consider them a good metric.

Atleast with brick and mortar, you have a better chance of getting a part, BB sells typically Visiontek Parts which to me are Akin to PNY (No frills parts, just plug n play)

Nice for you to clear the misunderstanding sir. So, you hate the shop from which the stats were derived. Good to know, but it is still irrelevant and out of topic. Maybe you should just post a small sentence in which you should focus just on the title's hyperbole having the word "leading" then. :toast: Other than that, its stats give us something important for the big change in CPU market since Ryzen series were released.

... possibly, but the real star of that show was s939 CPUs. If Zen2 is to Zen what Winchester was to Clawhammer but with better overclocking ... vOv.
