I'd be seriously impressed if one could get such monsters to 4.5 GHz on all cores using only water cooling.

EDIT:
@Gasaraki
I don't think EPS uses all wires for power. Bunch of them are probably grounding and signal, just like with PCIe power cables/connectors. Which means your formula doesn't quite work there...

First, the 7890XE boosts to 4.4 GHz on two cores, and 4.2 GHz on all the other cores. 4.5 GHz isn't much of a stretch, honestly. It's more about your board's VRM being able to handle the 350W+ power draw at those clocks on all cores. My 7980XE sample draws almost 285W at stock with boost enabled.

Also, EPS connector is 4x 12V, and 4x ground. PCIe power does have signal wiring, but not CPU EPS.

I'll have an article on these CPUs soon... waiting for new PSU, unfortunately.

Wait, that's a 1000W just for system+CPU, what's the total with Titan?

Wow...That is crazy. I am actually more impressed the motherboard handled that much power from the processor alone!!!

And then you woke up.

(Linus Tech Tips)

It consumes around the same power as 1950x while manages to run cooler despite the thermal paste vs solder disadvantage.
Presumably at stock, due to lower clocks? If you search the net, OCed 1950x is cooler, in general.

18-Cores @ 6+GHz w/ 1000w draw is actually amazing energy efficiency. That means each core is using around 60 watts (the energy of an old lightbulb) at 6.1 GHz.

Invest in fixing the energy grid with non-carbon based tech with the increased energy sales and quit worrying about consumption.

I wonder when we'll get to 6.1GHz on the mainstream level... we're stuck short of 5GHz for a couple of years now. we've gone into parallel processing and other stuff(core counts, HT, etc) instead of prioritizing raw speed(clockspeed). Intel having basically a monopoly for these past few years didn't help. luckily AMD is back so we can have good competition.

Excellent! I need a space heater. Don't know what people expected when ocing xeons to desktop+ speeds. I definitely want one, along with a 1200w+ psu.....

You don't need a 1200W PSU, but you do need one that is capable of more than 20A over the CPU EPS connector, for the HCC CPUs. It's surprising how many PSUs actually fail for this platform. I've got a Thermaltake 1250W Platinum... not good enough somehow. 850W Delta PSU... garbage. 850W Seasonic, nope. Yet all of these PSUs are fine with 7900X and dual 1080's...

Such a weird platform, TBH. I love it, because it makes having a bit of true skill at PC building and part choice as well as true OC understanding relevant. Intel brings back OCing, and people cry over VRMs and needing High-end cooling on a High-End Desktop platform... :p This really isn't a platform for the weak of wallet... it's for the older enthusiast with bucks to spend to get the performance they desire over stock. Phase change is useful again 24/7, too. No getting away with a $20 CPU cooler here, folks.

Serious question,
What if he would use LH2 instead of LN2?
Or the -250 degrees is too low for the CPU to function?

An all core overclock... respectable. Usually these guys disable all but one core. Still, that 1000w figure is insane...

Lol, plenty of retail 7700k reach 5ghz...

Serious question,

potentially better results. LHe is cery very exlensive though and needs more specific tools to get the job done.
