MSI Intros Optix AG32C 32-inch Curved Gaming Monitor

MSI today rolled out the Optix AG32C, a gaming-grade 32-inch (31.5-inch viewing area) monitor, with an 1800R curvature. Despite its colossal panel size, the monitor only puts out Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Lending to its gaming-grade credentials are 165 Hz maximum refresh-rate, 1 ms response time, and support for AMD FreeSync technology. Other vital specs include 178°/178° viewing angles, 3000:1 static contrast-ratio, and 250 cd/m² maximum brightness. Display inputs include HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, and dual-link DVI. Other features include an anti-flicker brightness adjustment, OSD crosshairs, etc. The company didn't reveal pricing.

I need that. High resolution and great textures are a distinct disadvantage on FPS. I need an old spectrum to play BF1 on, I'll see better.

Just wait for a 165hz 2560x1440 variant to come around, bound to happen soon enough, preferably with some high range freesync/gsync of 20 > 165 hz.

Everytime we have news about a gaming monitor that is bigger than 24 inches and has 1080p 144hz+, people keep making fun of the resolution, ignoring the fact it has its specific market. Is cool if you like high resolutions like 1440p and 4k, nothing against it, but please stop acting like these products are useless. Not everyone wants to play Witcher 3 soopa doopa eye candy stuff. Is good to have more e-sports monitor options in different sizes because everyone plays in a different way (distances to monitor, etc).

Thanks, buddy! I'm using a 32" Vizio TV... Coming from a nice Dell 22" 1680x1050, I can say it's nice, but the picture isn't nearly as good as the Dell's. But it's bigger, and from where I sit, I can't see the pixels. I'm looking for a nice 32" monitor now, but this MSI one is probably $500+..... I won't pay more than $250. I guess I'm stuck with 60Hz for a few more years. Woe is me.

Well you have a point, but only because LCD screens suffer from the concept of native resolution.
If they looked perfectly fine on any resolution then this limit of 1080p on a 32 inch screen is just rediculous.

But dont get me wrong, I find these tech steps as lackluster as the gpu's that need to power them.
How we dont have 2560x1440 a 120hz monitors with affordable gpu's that can push it at those figures yet is beyond me.

If they looked perfectly fine on any resolution then this limit of 1080p on a 32 inch screen is just rediculous.

How we dont have 2560x1440 a 120hz monitors with affordable gpu's that can push it at those figures yet is beyond me.

Agreed. In almost 2018 you cant even play latest games maxed out at 4k even if you pay 800€ for a gpu. No competition does this. But on the cpus as we have competition, companies had to push core count for the mainstream.

I personally refuse to pay 500€ to play 1080p 144hz maxed out or 1440p 75hz maxed out. Will stick to my little gtx 1060 wich makes me tweak the settings to find sweet spot, until something powerful appears. At least costed me 200€ and does its job without the wow factor tho.

Bought one for dad (old eyes, loves the big pixels). It's a really nice looking monitor -- not the exterior I mean the factory colors are notably better (movie + warm + brighter gamma) over the one it replaced. It does have some edge light clouding around the edges. $325 or £248 now. Dad likes the curve, haha.

Personally I think these are great specs for that size screen.
People complaing it is "only" FHD forget this is the same size as the early LCD Televisions and more comfortably viewed from the same distance as they were, not at a desk in your face.
