Give Your RAM Some Extra Bling With Corsair's Dominator Airflow Platinum RGB Fan

CORSAIR silently released a RGB version of their popular Dominator Airflow Platinum fan. RGB fanatics will be able to cool their memory, and do so with utter style. The new cooler is fitted with two 50 mm 4-pin PWM fans with RGB lighting. According to the manufacturer, each fan is capable of delivering up to 10.6 CFM at their maximum rotational speed of 3700 RPM. Users can control the fans' operation and customize their lighting through the CORSAIR LINK software.

The Dominator Airflow Platinum RGB Fan should fit on most motherboards without issues. Nevertheless, you might want to double-check the clearance space between the memory slots and your CPU socket if you're using an oversized CPU air cooler. As far as installation goes, it's pretty straightforward since no mounting hardware or tools are required. You simply clip the cooler on to the memory slots.

I'd agree with that to a point. Some of it is actually cool. I use red led fans in my system and the effect is nice. But those are just red, not RGB.

It looks likes the only peoples who don't dislike RGB with a passion are modders. In my book the ability to change the colors of the leds to anything you want, whenever you want, is pretty awesome. It's not like RGB is forcing you to go full rainbow.
The uglyness (very subjective topic) of this product got nothing to do with RGB to be honest...

RGB allows you to control a ligth spectrum and match your desired color, so no point why people is mad about it, some years ago options were like blue, red, green white and call it done...

I generally don't like them. Because I have to build the whole system around it. Just one RGB component is dumb.. having a bunch would be cool.

But whatever. It's easier to be boring black and steel.

You can also just turn off the LEDs if it's bother you ( yes sometimes it means installing a buggy piece of software, but if you are the kind to be bothered by mismatching component that's a small price to pay).

Unless there is an actual noticable price premium, I feel like people are just trying to be frenchy and disliking it just for the sake of disliking it. (I'm french so I'm just doing self derision).

Like that guy above said though, you don't have to have a rainbow. When I knew I could make an all white lighted or cyan machine, it became more appealing. I just don't want to bother unless I was buying all RGB parts at once.

I guess everyone goes through a period when useless gadgets like this have appeal, early in their PC building career. After buying a couple things like this, I realized it's just more wires and molex plugs to deal with, for zero gain in performance. Basically clutters and uglifies your build. These RAM fans are so useless, they used to give them away with RAM kits. I think g.Skill did that for a while as well.
