Thermaltake Unveils the View 22 Tempered Glass Edition Mid-Tower Case

Thermaltake, a leading premium gaming tower designer and manufacturer, announced the new Thermaltake View 22 Tempered Glass Edition Mid-Tower Chassis. Boasting a streamlined front panel design and a large tempered glass side panel, the View 22 TG backs up its look with a host of features to promise the best high-end case essentials. The View 22 TG's spacious design allows the case to house up to two 140mm intake fans and a pre-installed 120mm rear fan. Furthermore, the View 22 TG delivers superior cooling capability, with options to install up to one 360mm radiator, a CPU cooler up to 160mm in height, a VGA up to 400mm in length and a power supply with length of up to 160mm. I think we have official lost all case innovation. Every case that comes out now has the same layout, features, etc. The only difference is how much tempered glass and price.

Agreed, this is the eighth or ninth case I have seen from this same OEM.

I would say the majority of people buying these mid sized ATX cases are not going to be using it with a custom loop, and yet still we see cases being made that don't utilize the empty space on the right hand side. Fractal have created the excellent Meshify C and Define C which adopts a shortened design. NZXT came up with the S340 Elite, which utilizes a cable tidy bracket, while doubling as a clever way of making the empty space look aesthetically pleasing. I don't know whether case designers are just lazy or lack vision.

Look at the Phanteks cases. Look at NZXT. Look at the DeepCool announced the other day. Look at the Cougar Conquer review... Most InWin cases... case innovation is at an all time high. Now that we have much more silent components available you see open cases and fully design-focused cases pop up everywhere. And these designs don't remain limited to a demo at some event, they get produced. There is a market.

The main issue with case design is just that the optimal case has already been built a million times over.

Look at the Phanteks cases. Look at NZXT. Look at the DeepCool announced the other day. Look at the Cougar Conquer review... Most InWin cases... case innovation is at an all time high. Now that we have much more silent components available you see open cases and fully design-focused cases pop up everywhere. And these designs don't remain limited to a demo at some event, they get produced. There is a market.

I will agree to a degree about InWin, but all of their innovation cost $400+. I don't need an art piece. I just want some variety in my box cases covered in glass.

I don't know.. I don't really expect much outside of the form factor. If I really want to switch things up, I just do that. There's only so much you can do with ATX.

Then stop browsing... tempered glass isn't here for thát long. Most brands are still completing their line ups with TG still, some don't even have it yet, its still that cheap plexi or plastic.

Glass is fragile. If it were Gorilla Glass that would be something. I'm perfectly fine with acrylic as it can be easily polished if scratched. Glass can't.

I've been saying this for a l.o.n.g. time now, but then some people starting calling me a snob when I expressed my boredom at the last 100 or so cases that have been introduced... mainly because, just like this one, there is nothing new here, nothing that screams "innovation" or "buy me" because I'm cool and different than everything else out there"

Thats what lead me to buy Thermaltake's TT900 SuperTower, which will hopefully hold me over until someone comes up with a truly new and innovative design

even gorilla glass would have scratch over time, acrylic is fine as long as they are not permanent

Yeah, but the question is; Do we need innovation in PC cases at the same rate as the PC components themselves? I say no. Function is more important than fashion, yet fashion has a role. Case makers lately are forgetting this point are are going for fashion over function. Whenever this happens, innovation suffers. Look at the clothing fashion world, when was the last time someone came up with something truly new and innovative? Hasn't happened in a while. Back to PC cases, the latest true innovations have come from improvements to noise suppression and liquid cooling. Structurally, the PC case hasn't changed much in the last 30 years. Sure there have been refinements and modifications to account for new standards and configurations, but the PC box is still just that, a PC box.

Now see, perfect example of function over fashion, and yet fashion still being a part of the equation. Holy beast of a case! And I thought mine was big(CoolerMaster HAF-XB EVO)!

Fashion was the last thing on my mind when I bought the tt900, and yes, it is a massive beast. I had an Air540 before and I and lot of other people thought it was big, but it doesn't hold a candle to the tt900. I can send or post a comparison photo if you wanna see the dramatic difference....

I've actually built/upgraded a few systems with the Air540. The Arctic White one was really very striking visually when paired with UV lighting. And yeah, another beast of a case.
