MSI is apparently working on a revised version of its dual-fan Armor design for AMD's cards, dropping the white and black color scheme and opting for a more AMD-basic black and red one. The new versions, tentatively dubbed the Armor MK2 graphics cards, are expected to trickle through MSI's AMD graphics card lineup slowly, starting with the RX 570 and RX 560 graphics cards in their OC versions. The new color scheme, even if used to exhaustion already, does a little more than the previous Armor iteration in conveying the image of an AMD graphics card (black and red, anyone?), and the Armor MK2 models should feature an additional color and design upgrade to the existing backplate.

The black and red scheme is their Gaming lineup. I do not believe it has anything to do with AMD/NVIDIA.

Yeah but isn't Armor white and black by default.

just about an exact clone of the Powercolor Vortex GPUs from years back. the Powercolor ones had removable fans, i wonder if MSI went that far? i suppose theres only so many designs a company can go with.

Indeed. I was responding to this notion in the original post, however...

Perhaps it does now with the Armor? Who knows... that information wasn't stated and as written, doesn't seem correct. But, things can change.

Hmmm. The idea was that AMD's historic colors for graphics cards are black and red for some generations now; thus, a black and red color scheme is more in check with AMD's own color identity. Revised text for clarity, though.

That idea is correct... AMD is Red. However the entire MSI Gaming line (performance, enthusiast, etc) is black and red and are NVIDIA cards among AMD as well.

https://us.msi.com/Graphics-cards

Their previous RX 5x0 series Armor cards were black and white. I guess the bottom line is, unless the PR said it, I don't think it has anything to do with AMD??? But, who knows.

Yep. MSI has a tradition of: Black and red for "Gaming" hardware. Black and yellow for "HAWK" cards and "MPOWER/XPOWER" motherboards.

The only thing that I don't like is the fan shroud. Looks like cheap Palit or Zotac plastic, rather than their previous slick TwinFrozr. Good thing I stashed 4 of those heatsinks in my closet =)

Lucky you, in my country a 1080 was never lower than $900. Settled for 6GB GTX1060 from US, while it was still around $250 on sale.
Now I'm even tempted to sell this puppy, cause I've already finished Witcher 3 and DOOM, and can probably double my money as a downpayment for future Volta.

Doesnt matter what it looks like on the miners system. Currently no AMD parts in the UK distribution channel at all. Cant wait for the Ryzen Apu, at least then I will be able to stock something which can handle modest games.
