GeForce Partner Program Impacts Consumer Choice

GeForce Partner Program or GPP should be a "latest effort to better serve gamers" from nVidia, in reality however it's anything but that. The truth behind GPP was dug out by HardOCP. Here some takeaways from the article:

In order to have access to the GPP program, its partners must have its "Gaming Brand Aligned Exclusively With GeForce."

NVIDIA will tell you that it is 100% up to its partner company to be part of GPP, and from the documents I have read, if it chooses not to be part of GPP, it will lose the benefits of GPP which include: high-effort engineering engagements -- early tech engagement -- launch partner status -- game bundling -- sales rebate programs -- social media and PR support -- marketing reports -- Marketing Development Funds (MDF). MDF is likely the standout in that list of lost benefits if the company is not a GPP partner.

What is disturbing is that we have been told that if a company does not participate in GPP, those companies feel as if NVIDIA would hold back allocation of GPUs from their inventories.

People involved with nVidia will definitely drool over this and defend it, because if this passes without sanctions, the stock will go up, but any true PC gamer should condemn this move.

PC gaming is in a bad enough state with the current inflated prices, but even worse times seem to be coming ...

Knowing NVIDIA, this won't benefit gamers, it'll just divide them even further between two camps. And same will most likely happen to quality of games that will be filled with NVIDIA's GameWorks. Which we all know and have bad experience with in general. Sure, it's easy for devs to stick bunch of NVIDIA plugins to make fancy effects instead of actually working on them themselves, but in general, that's just a bad idea.

If Nvidia can buy all OEM/AIB into "Gaming Brand Aligned Exclusively With GeForce" program why not simply offer this to Sapphire, Diamond, HIS, XFX...? Because it's cheaper to buy AMD GPU AIBs.

Also in past AMD directly accused Nvidia of things. But now they sending this story to others.

Before we go any further, in the effort to be as transparent as possible, we need to let you know that AMD came to us and presented us with "this story." AMD shopped this story with other websites as well. However, with the information that was presented to us by AMD, there was no story to be told, but it surely pointed to one that was worth looking into. There needed to be some legwork done in collecting facts and interviews.

after digging into documentation and interviews with OEMs and AIBs

Where is documentation?

Might want to ask Nvidia to provide it. After all they use "transparency" in describing the program.

Nvidia said:
The GeForce Partner Program is designed to ensure that gamers have full transparency into the GPU platform and software they’re being sold

This transparency is only possible when NVIDIA brands and partner brands are consistent

They see the benefit of keeping brands and communication consistent and transparent.

That transparency will give gamers the confidence needed to make their purchase,

Maybe the'll be "transparent" with the programs agreement since its so transparent

I am not surprised one bit by any of this. This sort of stuff was already happening for years under different forms , now they've simply formalized it. But , none of it matters , the average consumer only sees green in front of their eyes anyway.

Good thing I am not as interested in gaming as I once was because if you think things have been bad up until now , the darkest of the days is yet to come.

So, reading the article, this sounds rather threatening. “Partner exclusively with is if you want any benefits.” Besides the example of ASUS ROG, this would hurt MSI, since they also sell AMD. Shame.

might go some way to explain the position of Asrock and their GPU Plans ( Re AMD GPU's).
If Nvidia chose to Force Current AIB partners to use Nvidia exclusively and drop AMD as a partner that may explain the """ AVAILABILITY OF FUTURE AMD GPU's for AsRock """
