Check Steam settings and look for Libraries. Iirc that's where you can add other install locations. Then every game you install you'll have a drop down menu to choose which location. Works great!

mmmhhhhh.... trying something again ... since "somebody" got me a "Constellation Andromeda" package ... and iirc the only one with my account credential around me ... is my brother in law (he borrowed my account to see if he would like SC) ....

so now ... i have 2 of each "flair" listed under :oops:

Greycat PTV, Fishtank Mark 1,Vindel, Oshi, Thorshu Grey,Ribbon Fish (Vario Vittas)
oh well .... my new R&Y hangar will be less empty ....

ALSO albeit being more fun after every update some glitch are ... frigging annoying (borderline amateur error ) i.e.: the missiles out of rack on the Andromeda, the MISC Razor floating instead of resting on his skids, lift in hangar shifting position and blocking any action (specially in the R&Y one) .... and other of the like :shadedshu:

whatever .... having the most expensive single ship package (outside the one with more than three number in the price :roll:

) made me melt some of my lesser package to get the new addition (flyable preferably)

beautiful ... well i will miss my dragonfly .... or not, the Aopoa Nox Kue is a tad better .... (LTI version upgraded from a Archimedes P-72)

yep the Andromeda is a beauty too ... and a Merlin P-52 bundled with is a neat bonus (missile rack impressive .... when they do not glitch :laugh:

) since it's not a Aquila or a Phoenix ... no rover for me (but the cargo hold of that thing is no joke )

or not ... Ursa Rover + Tumbril Cyclone (LTI from a Arch... yaddah yaddah ...) oh NEAT that thing has a charging ramp :laugh:

Origin 85X LTI and MISC Razor and the famous floating glitch ....

and the funny one for the end ... the Razor is freaking fast .... when you see these hexagon grid .... you know you have to stop .... fat chance at that speed ...

doing some solo Vanduul Swarm with a ship that's not really made for fighting .... is fun .... next a bit Star Marines probably .... or visiting Crusader

edit ... probably not, Crusader loading but seemingly crashing

end line, 3.1 bring some good things .... well i could test my Terrapin which was not bad but not at my taste i think a Prospector would be a tad better as solo "workhorse" .... i love mining ... blame Eve Online mmmmhhh i think i have a spare P-72 LTI i can use for upgrade someday ... but a lot of 3d glitch are ruining the fun a little (will forward them to RSI to participate to the bug hunt )

PM up me on weekend if you into playing a bit, see how the server crashes again. I got a Drake Cutlass Black and Aegis Sabre and Aegis Sabre Raven(hello Optane). Would do some cargo runs, but the economy is screwed in 3.1, no real money in it.

well if i could get past the loading screen in crusader .... i would gladly ... but i don't know why it stop at some point ...

i doubt it's because i play in 2880x1620

edit: managed to get in .... tho .... 4-23fps in 1620p lowering res to 1080p yield 35-64fps but each time i check the resolution in option : it says 1620p

and a 180° panoramic while i was fooling around in solo free flight opening the cargo bay

The game is not GPU limited, server is hammered too much... the EU one is worse. US run usually better.

well there was no one around me in Crusader (except 2 random who poped and disconnected ) beside Lumberyard Engine is a Cry Engine fork ... not GPU limited? within a closed environment that engine is already heavy ... within SC .... bloody hell, 1st time i feel my 1070 not cutting it in 1620p :laugh:

ok i reckon my 6600K @4.4 might not be the best option for that game ... i guess a R5-2XXX or a R7-2XXX (or even a R5-1600/1600X since they are becoming dirt cheap nowadays and make my 6600K which was a insurance replacement for a 4690K feel exaggeratedly overpriced ) would be a good upgrade path for later this year.

Greiver, about the resolution issue, could it be that perhaps GF experience or what's it called is supersampling the game and bypassing the ingame setting even when you dial it down to 1080p.

It ain't artificial, the server meshing isn't done, if some chaps collide with a planet the servers chew so much data to sync in between 50 guys that it just cannot handle more.

There are some rare sessions when the server is empty will full 60FPS. You can launch also in offline mode the game, it will also run normally.

well if i was using GFE and supersampling .... but my 32" screen is a 1440p 60hz that can, strangely, do 1620p 75hz with no issues (and i positively hate GFE :laugh:

Everyone is at the mercy of the servers in terms of FPS. As long as you have a modern-ish CPU/GPU and 16gb of RAM and an SSD, you should be good to go.

I see, thanks. Well I was already convinced this was a server side issue and not client/PC side, because if I enter Star Marine or a dogfight match its silky smooth, 120 or 60 FPS respectively.

The main issue I am seeing though is one that plagues almost every MMO, and that is the performance loss in crowded areas. Seeing as the controls are quite precise on most of the aspects of the game that could be quite an issue to overcome. If they can knock down that obstacle, my confidence in Star Citizen is 100%, but until then...full of doubt

So is this game worth playing yet? I check usually once a year and its pretty much unplayable. I wonder if it is worth downloading again...yet?

I do have a pretty beefy PC but it didn't seem to make much of a difference in the past.

The game hasn't been released. You can TEST what's available now, and there's plenty of fun to be hand doing so even in it's current state of development. "Unplayable" is an entirely subjective term. I enjoyed a continuous three hour session last night and had a blast. I did some trading, flew a couple of missions, was ambushed and had my ship destroyed, was rescued by another player, gathered a group of testers and came to the defense of another under attack and took part in a group battle together. Server stability is varied as constant changes are being made, but such is the nature of testing. I saw some noticeable FPS improvements with recent patches, but changes are pretty much constant with ongoing development. CIG has continuous performance optimizations in progress, and I don't think you can expect the current state to represent how the released game will perform.

If you're only interested in playing, put it away and don't download again until a beta or final release is available. There are plenty of features still to be implemented and performance adjustments to be made. What's encouraging to me is that there is active development going on with noticeable progress towards this end.

It was a valid question and I'm just trying to accurately represent the current state of development. I recall the days of slide show movement and happily it's much better than that. (At least on my system). On the other hand, I've randomly been put onto some servers where stability was questionable and FPS suffers too much for me to want to engage in any dog-fighting or gun battles. In short, things are improving but sadly it's not where we all want them to be yet.
