I have just been able to get the patch to work on windows 10 with the 388.71 drivers but when I go to Nvidia control panel and activate sli my performance in games drops significantly. Is there something I did wrong that I can fix?
We can't help you as long as you don't list your hardware.

@P!nkpanther I tried to set up SLI GTX 1060 (6GB+3GB variant) with your method, and sadly, it didn't work :(( maybe if I replace the 3GB to 6GB variant, then it will work perhaps... :)

Probably yes...

I was suspecting you were using two different cards with drastically different performance. But that not being the case, you should see some performance gains at least in SOME games. SLI scaling usually works decently in older DX11 games, but recent DX12 games no longer support SLI. Try more games, as soon as you see a boost, SLI is working.
Did you attach a SLI bridge jumper cable?

I tried multiple games and in all of them my performance with sli enable was worse than with just one gpu dropping up to 40 fps. I also do have the bridge installed but I tired with it connected and without it connected and it didn't affect anything. I cannot figure out what my problem may be.

Did you set global SLI Rendering Mode in nVidia panel accidentally to AFR1 maybe?
Another thing would be watching GPU loads using nVidia inspector and see whether both cards are under similar load.

I made sure to check sli rendering was the default Nvidia controlled one and both are are running at near full load but my performance is lower. I'll try starting complestly fresh with drivers and a patch in a few days and see what happens. Are there any additional steps I should take to make sure that the install is correct such as disabling the gpus while installing?

No, that's not required since you have to run the install script in Safe Mode with Networking anyways, where only Windows default drivers are active.
The only really important step when reinstalling is to clean old instances of DifferentSLIauto certificates. These steps are already included in the instructions.

Do I need to clean the old instances while in safe mode. I think I may have done it In just a regular boot.

I also never checked the version of Windows 10 I have does that matter?

Cleaning the certificates can be done in normal boot mode. Only if you want to clear your GPU driver installation, you need Safe Mode for DDU. That however usually only is needed if you have a mess of driver versions, like manually installed nVidia drivers (or those of a GPU vendor), which have been superseded by automatic Windows driver updates, etc.

Win 10 version should not matter, except if you're using developer versions (beta).

Hi there!
First i would like to thank the following people for making this entire thing possible.

- Also looking forward to any updates if you succeed to patch newer drivers :)

I've been successfully running my setup with a Evga 970 and Asus 970 in SLI for about half a year with no problems whatsoever. Until I wanted to try a game that uses BattlEye (PUBG/Rainbow Six: Siege etc.) and found that Testifier got it working.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. The system I used for SLI need RMA, and I wasn't sure of the process either.

Now I have a fully working system, here's the step that I have done that you can try

Assuming you have a working DifferentSLIAuto 1.7.1 setup on Windows 10 64-bit with Nvidia Driver 388.71

- Download this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1K-2Il57r1SsXGhUeS-vSoCAqcEoz_LBi <- Basically the DSLIA1.7.1 with modified .bat file and original .sys file
- Go to Device Manager and disable all of your display adapters
- Run the original.cmd as Admin
- Re-enable the GPU in Device Manager <- Your SLI setup still work here in test mode
- Reboot the computer <- Now SLI setup will STOP working
- Now reboot the computer again with advance startup mode using the Shift + Restart method
- Choose the option 7 from the startup mode selection, which is the Disable Driver Signature
- Now the SLI will WORK again, but you still cannot run the BattlEye stuff
- Reboot normally one last time and the system will be SLI activated for BattlEye

Unfortunately, I cannot confirm that this is working.
After swapping with the provided nvlddmkm.sys using the modified .bat file and re-enabled my GPU's one of them immediately stopped working. i still tried to replicate the rest of your actions, but without luck.
2018-05-20_1218.png

After the setup, I would get error messages like this, and no contact to the GPU's other than the Device Manager telling me that they stopped working. Note that I also tried with my own unmodified nvlddmkm.sys file and the modified install file, still unsuccessful.

Luckily just swapping back to my own patched nvlddmkm.sys made the SLI setup work again instantly without even rebooting. But I still have to run in Test Mode and with both testsigning off and nointegritychecks off .

If anyone succeeds in running applications requiring BattlEye, I would love to know. As for now I still have to run them on only one GPU, or not at all which luckily can be done exiting windows Test Mode and reenabling testsigning and nointegritychecks.

i followed all the steps on your guide(https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-with-different-cards.158907/page-88) and i cant access the nvidia control pannel to activate sli
You can't expect us to help when we don't know anything about your hardware and OS.
Not being able to access nVidia panel indicates that your patched driver has been installed but could not be loaded, because test signing mode had not been activated.
  • Run cmd.exe as admin and enter:
bcdedit.exe /set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe /set NOINTEGRITYCHECKS ON
bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON

...But I still have to run in Test Mode and with both testsigning off and nointegritychecks off .
...can be done exiting windows Test Mode and reenabling testsigning and nointegritychecks.
That's one thing I'd like to know, whether both of these commands are actually required to enable/disable test signing mode. From what I know, TESTSIGNING ON should be all you need. It's the command that sticks across reboots, while 'nointegritychecks' only works until next reboot.
Since I no longer use DSLIA myself, can you please check whether still both commands are needed?

I got it to work but now whenever i try sli them windows 10 crashes and show the error on the file nvlddmkm.sys

Finally... :rockout:

It's enough to tell that these two cards cannot be SLIed together.
Different architecture.

Hi, I've gone and re-done the entire process again and it seems to be working better where it only losing about 20 frames compared to one GPU. Both 970s are at full load and now the SLI bridge does seem to have an effect where it crashed when not on while previously it had no effect. Could the problem be within the bridge? It is one of the flexible ones and I've had it for a for a few years.
