NVIDIA today released GeForce 397.93 WHQL "Game Ready" drivers. The drivers come with optimization for "The Crew" closed beta and "State of Decay 2." SLI profiles are either added or updated for "DRG Initiative," and "Star Wars: Battlefront II." The drivers also introduce CUDA 9.2 support. In addition, the drivers also address a number of bugs.

You now no longer need to close Steam to enable/disable SLI. A "Wolfenstein II: TNC" bug that causes the game to freeze in the Roosevelt area, is fixed. A critical issue is fixed on machines with both "Pascal" and "Kepler" GPUs installed, in which the driver fails to load. Green flickering noticed in "Far Cry 5" when using HDR on non-native screen-resolution, is fixed. Grab the drivers from the link below.

Funny how today we get drivers from both AMD and Nvidia, but they don't include optimizations for the same titles.

You know, you can simply choose custom install and uncheck the whole GFE thing. Problem solved. (I also uncheck the 3D crap I don't need)
And if you want the absolute minimum installed, do not install anything and let Windows install just the graphics driver.

Both of the above are more sensible than installing unwanted programs and then trying to prevent them from working.

Its sooo much work to do that one time during install, so much better it will be removed. Wont break a finger nail now.

nope you are wrong. nvidia has telemetry baked into to the main drivers, not just GFE, look in your nvidia folders. also right click your desktop, go into nvidia control panel, and at the top cick in help within nvidia control panel, uncheck the button that says "allow us to collect information" also if you run this, you will find even more telemetry thats baked into nvidia drivers

Yeah, the moment I realized I simply don't have time for games anymore is the moment I no longer needed to boot into Windows. This was followed by the moment I realized my printer is just an expensive paperweight for Arch Linux :D

Funny you say that, I just bought a Chromebook recently. 2018 model IPS 1080p for $260, so basically my windows PC never gets turned on anymore unless its time to game. Forums, banking, etc, all on my chromebook now. its just so portable, battery life is a legit 11-13 hours, 14" size is perfect for my lap. its been heaven. i know chromebook isn't for everyone, but it just has solid security I trust for my banking, and its own ecosystem which is nice.
and i can still play my card games... Hearthstone, Elder Scrolls Legends, lol.

my PC is not going to need to be dusted nearly as often anymore, cause I used to just let my PC idle when not using it, because I needed quick access to forums, etc. heh.

Neah, my PC is not collecting dust. I have a tablet for a quick browse, but I will not trade my 24" 16:10 monitor for anything. I'll trade it for a 32" at some point, but they need to come down in price quite a bit before that happens.
