EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC Ultra Pictured

The XC Ultra, a new brand extension by EVGA, could be its flagship graphics card based on the GeForce RTX 2080. Pictured below, this monstrosity is characterized by a 2-slot thick new cooling solution that uses two aluminium fin-stacks, which draw heat from the GPU over five nickel-plated copper heat pipes; ventilated by a pair of 100 mm fans. The cooler shroud is clear acrylic, and unless we're mistaken, the fan intakes are framed by four RGB LED diffusers that put up a light show.

I'm sure EVGA has actual whitepapers describing how the E logo's on the fans are going to help performance.

Ridiculous.

And then there's the backplate. Need some more holes to capture dust in? Need them a bit less practical to clean out? NO PROBLEM. But ofc they had to after the previous heat disasters that they created.

For me, ACX 3.0 was the best cooler design I've experienced so far (excellent looks combined to solid performance). This new one... they already botched the looks, I hope the performance is something else then, which I doubt after seeing those fans...

come on guys , we all know today its all about RGB , gimmicks, and hype that is now the strong selling points over support, quality ,reliability , and companies like EVGA are just meeting that / YOUR needs and wants .

I also like how these more efficient hardware like these cards still need al that overboard cooling to still try to keep them under 85c + a 20 way RGB case with 7 - 200mm fans at full blast

WTF?! EVGA is my go-to for graphics cards. I can't remember the last time they designed something even close to this bad. Good thing I always wait until the Ti FTW comes out. They better come out with a better design in the meantime.

Hehe, well, I find value in it.

I don't overclock these days. I just buy cards that are already clocked from the manufacturer. I'm sure I am in the minority of users that do this on this site.

FTW"s used to be pretty sweet but the past few generations have been nothing but trouble for EVGA. Bad VRM cooling, and a lockdown on BIOS level means that those power stages are essentially doing nothing but increase your e-peen.

It's sound advice to open your eyes and look around for alternatives.

I wasn't aware of that. So it was only good for the 680 and 780 series? Also, it sounds like that mostly affected people who overclock which isn't me. I use it as is right out of the box.

I guess I'm like you and just get a nice aftermarket card with factory oc's - I do set up a OC but 99% of the time I just run it at stock all day . may just use the OC for a bragging score .
