The performance scales pretty much in line with the increase in shaders and memory bandwidth. No "50% shader performance improvement" is would seem.

There aren't even games worth playing, game releases are stagnating since 2015
Your opinion. I play ALOT of games from many genres, and no way is the market stagnating. Perhaps you stick your nose up at indies? They have a lot of crap, but literally scores of really good ones every year that are great fun. Even big studios have done some very good games in the last couple years.

Nvidia is wasting their time I feel. Gaming stays popular because of fun, not graphics. Oh sure, obviously there is an enhancement factor to decent graphics, but making everything lifelike should only be the cherry on top of the ice cream. Gameplay and fun factor is what keeps people coming back.

If you're right, then both companies are wasting time doing the expensive stuff. And we're wasting time discussing their products. Why not just buy a 1050 and have fun instead of benchmarking? And I know what I'm talking about. :)

to be honest, I don't agree with "time wasting". General push towards photorealism (RTRT is an important step) is the future of computer graphics. It's not just about games. For example: we could have realistic characters for assistants of all sorts - something that's still impossible today*.
Soon we might have live animations that look like best CGI movies used to not so long ago. Think about possibilities in both entertainment and business problems.

And another interesting aspect is the new tech itself. It's well known how a tensor core can be used, but what about the RT core? What else is it good at? Will it be accessible via CUDA?
I doubt I can afford a 2070, but I'll just keep reading about this new tech and wait for a 2060. :)

I game quite a bit too. I mostly agree with this (bolded).

A large majority of indie games use Unity. In that respect, and the fact that the industry has to wait for them to update the engine, it is a form of stagnation. Several major MMOs still use a modified version of Unreal engine. There really hasnt been a new gaming engine worth talking about in a while (since Unity?). I will leave the rumors where they are, in the dumpster, until I see POC.

Judging by these prices:

Yeah, I think if they want me to just buy it, it would be better if Toms Hardware would buy it for me. Or at least they can cover my mortgage for a month.

Apparently you might as well stick with the 1050 since the 2060 could be devoid of Rtx, you like all other Nvidia fans will have to just save more pennies and im guessing that the msrp of these is going to be on the horizon for a While like way yonder while .
All films look really real but that doesn't make them all worth my time ,i agree with him ,funs more important.
