EVGA Unveils its NVLink Bridges

EVGA unveiled the design of its NVLink bridges, closely following ASUS and GIGABYTE. Its design has the most pronounced C-shape among all aftermarket bridges, and four nearly independent RGB LED diffusers along the top shroud, which somewhat has the design language as its recent graphics cards. Like the others, the EVGA NVLink bridge could come in 3-slot (2 slots between cards) and 4-slot (3 slots between cards) sizes, and could be priced at $80, if not more.

Damned, I should have kept the 8 or so I had in my parts box until this summer, when I pitched them.... I did try to sell them beforehand though, and got rid of 2 for $7.00 to some guy in the UK

you miss the point. This bridge is for people who buy pair of 2080 or 2080 Ti and let's face it if someone buys pair of video cards worth of $1600 or even $2400 will have no problem purchasing this bridge. You comment like you have to buy it. It's optional. Sometimes I think that majority of techpowerup commentators are hateful, ignorant teenagers.

Have you seen it's die size? It's gigantic, the biggest in mainstream GPU. Did you know that manufacturing GDDR6 costs 20% more, RTX cards have ray-tracing technology and DLSS? They cost every penny. You just need to find a better job with good pay.

Yeah, it kinda is. It's literally just a board with some traces that connect the NVLink connectors together... and some plastic and RGB.

Its a wire nobody asked for. Prospective buyers are already purchasing twice the amount of video cards at an immense price premium, why on earth would they have to pay an even more grossly overpriced amount for this bridge?

Why isn't it free upon buying a second card? SLI bridges were free, they came with motherboards, hell even GPUs. NVLink material costs are extremely low, it costs at most 10 bucks to produce one and ship it across the globe.

It's not a "wire".

It's still a dumb wire-set with no logic, as our own @W1zzard showed in his review. It's shielded and made on a PCB yes, but electrically, you are talking about something as complex as an IDE cable with a fancy connector...

Except the ball it's still is in the Game Developers court... If they don't implement the functionality in their engine, this 80$ junk is useless. And look of all those AAA games Wizz tested. Less than half of them are properly supporting the SLI capabilities...

Maybe so, but it shouldn't be. Buying a second graphics card, a beefy enough PSU to run it, and all the potential issues that comes with it just go get a respectable boost in some games makes SLI a very unattractive purchase.

I love SLI and use it in all of my systems except for one.
I wouldn't buy this as long as my motherboard comes with one that works. (and they will start shipping with them)
