The QSAN XN3002T has a distinctive nice look and uses a promising operating system utilizing the ZFS filesystem, which is known for its increased data protection. In order to boost performance you can add an SSD-based caching layer. However, is it worth its high asking price of $499?

Thanks for the review. These guys make some beautiful looking hardware, but boy, was the performance figures a let down.
It's retailing for a bit less at $420 in Taiwan, but it's still not cheap, especially with the performance in mind.
I was eyeing them before I decided to build my own NAS, which is a monster compared to the pre-built branded ones, so no regrets in that sense.

Performance is one thing, but this is iffy on other levels, too. Questionable OS, imbalanced build... No USB 3.1 on a device that's supposed to stream? Running (rather low speed) RAM above 1.2V?
This has Chinese product with a pretty enclosure written all over it. Unfornately, it doesn't have "Chinese product price" written as well.

Dude, this is NOT a Chinese product, it's from Taiwan. QSAN are not new players and have been mainly making SAN solutions until a couple of years ago.
Why do you need USB 3.1 on a NAS? What are the benefits in this scenario over USB 3.0?
It's DDR3 memory, it's rated at 1.35V...

Maybe before you throw a hissy fit on the internet, get your facts right.
