I remember thinking that the "auto" shutdown of AT was futuristic.

When I saw an ATX system i was in awe lol, it could Hibernate etc. Oh the simple features we take for granted now were awesome then.

Notice no AGP lol

Gotta disagree. I have no use for a streaming player/service type app. Not sure anyone else who has used, currently uses or would use a future version of Winamp would either. What I'd want is an up to date player that improves on existing functionality.

And it won't happen :( Useless mobile.

Who is walking around draining their phone batt on music? Stop it!

Ohh, a new Android version of Winamp would be great.
I still have some Trident 3D Blast lying around the house, I've played Need for Speed 4 with them, on a K6-2 500MHz.

Great news. I have used Winamp since i got my first PC back in 2001 and i still use it for my MP3 files to this day. Yeah i know, i am old fashion but i dont want to stream and al that. Prefer to have my music local on a HDD.

Not talking mobile. Talking about desktop.

Why? Modern phone have replaced ipods and "walkman" type devices. I use mine a music player all the time. The 64gb microsd in it has a lot of my music on it. No streaming for this guy.

B/c it's the most awful way to listen to music quality-wise lol. And I said that b/c they all but explicitly said there is no desktop app coming.

Between mobile and idiots using the abomination known as shittunes, there's no market as they see it.

How so? My current phone(Android) plays music better than any device I've ever had before.

Where was that? The whole of the OP was about the desktop version. No mention of mobile was made at all.

That's not how I interpreted anything in the article from tech chrunch.

Can't exactly power studio headphones with a phone :p

Ok. Maybe re-read?

Studio headphones are not made for listening on the go anyway.

Exactly XD

And, yes, I can read. "The planned version of Winamp for iOS and Android will be that place, Saboundjian claims. On desktop, “the war is over,” he said, and between the likes of iTunes and web apps, there’s not much room to squeeze in. But mobile audio is fractured and inconvenient."

That can be interpreted as a maybe in the future, but it's not planned.

That is not in the OP of this thread. Where do you read this?

He's probably referring to the fact a phone is harder to isolate electrically than a PC. Adding a decent DAC and staying mobile even harder.

Still, most don't really care. Not everyone owns high impedence $600+ audiophile headphones, or what have you.
