Nice card, AIB customs are going for £459 here, no wonder they are selling out fast, Vega 64 and the GTX 1080 Ti need a price cut.

The FE model is too pricey, and personally I think Nvidia should stop making them due to the negative response.

The base model RTX 2070 is a good buy though, at $500 it offers slightly better performance than GTX 1080. Still, if they could cut another $50 it would be very well priced.

This is only review i see 2070 15% faster than GTX1080 and only 10% behind 1080TI(1440p).Techspot find out 2070 only 7% average faster than 1080 and 1080TI just wipes the floor with 2070.But they used AIB cards and not crap FE coolers on pascal.

to me the 2070 looks to be the worst of the bunch - least likely to be able to use RTX in reality and outperformed by cheaper alternatives.

The same argument have been made every generational change as the price of the previous version dropped. Those prices are not going to last.

How is this even relevant? A used card for this price?
By this logic a used card will always be superior.

A card under heavy load may have ~3 years of usable life. If you buy something that's e.g. 1.5 years old, you should consider that 1.5 years of its life span is already spent. In addition there is the risk of mistreated cards for OC or mining. I wouldn't spent more than ~$200 for a used card, since the buyer takes all the risk.

1080Ti is much worse, it is like GTX780 Ti compared to GTX1060 in async compute vulkan and such. And will slow down much faster in the future and in case Dlss is enabled on 2070 no performance hit, some 2x Aa on 1080Ti with performance hit.

Ive been saying this all along. It has never been a greater time to pick up a pre-owned 1080Ti and people have been dumping them like mad on ebay. By the time Ray Tracing is really a thing to worry about. the 1080Ti would absolutely be old news. Until the industry adopts Ray Tracing. I might even go 1080Ti SLi for fun, Its bound to be a year or two before they manage to pay some studio to adopt it.

Asus need to calm their chops. The cheapest few cards (including an MSI Armor card are about £460. The top end Asus Strix RGB GBH LOL STFU model is £660. £200 more than the entry models. I mean, seriously?

None of the German tech press got a FE. Only a very small number of US sites got a FE from NVIDIA

I agree, at 1080p I am actually running into my VRAM limit in two games I play a lot. Far Cry 5 and Fallout 4 both with HD texture packs installed. In FC5 with HBCC enabled I am seeing up to 11GB committed... This is on a Vega 56. So my next card will have to have a lot more VRAM than 8GB.

You can get a new one for $550 (which is still cheaper than a 2070 is going for now) ..but ive had used cards last way more than 3 years so... not sure where you're getting that stat.

Also this wasnt the case last generation where a 1070 was faster and cheaper than a 980ti... so also not sure where you're getting "The same argument have been made every generational change". Because that's definitely not true - at least not for GPUs... It was true for Intel's Sandy/Ivy/Haswell/Skylake releases ~ mostly becuase they were incremental and expensive for no reason (much like this).
