Cooler Master today announced the release of their new ATX 24 Pin 90° Adapter. Building a PC is about more than just getting all the parts to work. Each custom designed, home built system is a personal experience that expresses the needs and desires of the builder in terms of both performance and aesthetics. This new adapter is latest way that Cooler Master is helping people express themselves through the building of PCs.

The ATX 24 Pin 90° Adapter is a universal adapter that allows users to connect the 24 Pin main power cable from their PSU to their motherboard at a 90° angle. It will work with any motherboard and PSU that uses the standard ATX 24 Pin connection type past, present, or future. Made with black ABS 94-v0 plastic, this accessory is built to last. Builders will be able to use it even after replacing their current motherboard and power supply unit. Since it's universal, that means there are no brand limitations. Even systems that don't contain a Cooler Master PSU can still make use of the adapter.

The benefit of a 90° adapter for the 24 Pin main power cable is that it opens up systems to a host of additional cable management options. Normally the main power cable needs to travel up behind the motherboard tray, through the routing hole closest to the 24 Pin socket, and then bend or fold over to reach the socket. With this adapter, that's no longer the case. The socket can be approached via other paths, allowing the usual routing hole to be used by other cables without getting in the way of each other. It also reduces the amount of slack needed by the main cable to reach the socket.

The ATX 24 Pin 90° Adapter comes in two versions. The basic version is just the adapter. It's plug and play and ready to be added to a system out of the box. The higher end version, which is also plug and play, comes with built in capacitors to ensure stable output. While the effects of this accessory on stability and efficiency are negligible, any added obstacle between the original power source and output destination can have some level of effect on the power supply unit's overall performance. To combat these negative effects, Cooler Master has created a special version with extra capacitors built into the adapter to safeguard against any performance loss.

Availability:
The ATX 24 Pin 90° Adapter is available now. Both versions can be purchased online at Cooler Master Web shop.

The idea is nice but 15/20 € for a 90 degree adapter?

I am amazed that no one did it before now.

So we will have one from all manufacturers with RGB and even built in fans, could even be plans to include a water block.

Innovation within PC industry is at an all time high with amazing new out of the box thinking innovations like this.

Next is the angled cpu power connector :)

IKR, maybe they use rare earth materials there, or maybe alien tech.
just wait a few days or weeks and you will find chinese version being sold over AliExpress for $3.

You know what!!, after writing the above lines, i went to check aliexpress if there is something like that, and guess what, there is already something similar and for the same amount i suggested.

Actually the locking latch is at the top of the ATX Power connector. They probably did this to make installation and removal of the ATX Power connection easy. Either way, this means if the Cooler Master 90 degree adapter where used on this board the connectors would be perpendicular with the top of the board not the bottom.

In other words it would be pointing up in the opposite direction anyone would logically want, not behind the board as you suggest.

It's wonderful because. it can hide the ugly salad cables! with two consecutive bound adapters!! :)
EVGA Dark Z390 hides only 50% of the cable and at least one adapter is needed, of course, we need additional 8pin adapters. Ultra good audio on this board .

I'm referring to the Cooler Master 90 degree adapter and the pictured motherboard with specificity ( Evga Dark).

Unless the Cooler Master 90 degree adapter is modular and thus can be reconfigured to bend in the opposite direction pictured, it would be pointing in the wrong direction on the above board.

Most motherboards have their ATX power connectors at 90 degrees or perpendicular to the plane with the locking latch facing the outer edge. This adapter seems to be designed for that common physical configuration.

As stated before, you can see where the ATX power connection latches to lock on both the motherboard connector and the Cooler Master adapter. Therefore unless you can adjust it to bend the other way (180 degrees) it will stick up in the classic configuration of most motherboards (when combined with the Evga Dark). While you can use two adapters it would not change the direction in the correct way so two would point towards the back of the motherboard in the direction of the I/O.

I get that some people may have used something similar and gotten the desired result but that doesn't mean the suggested configuration will get you what you want with the Cooler Master 90 degree adapter.

Also, this is largely just a superficial add-on. Sure it makes it look nice but electrically speaking, adding more things between the PSU and the motherboard ATX power connection doesn't help things. Adding two adapters would be even less helpful in that respect.

I hope more Mobo Manufacturers in the future implement 90 degree connectors in their lineup.

I'd like to ask, would it cost much (in a manuufacturing cost perspective) to change it to 90 degrees?

And it doesn't stick up as high as a dang memory module like the CoolerMaster one. I don't see why anyone would actually want the CoolerMaster one, with as big and bulky as it is, it kind of defeats the purpose.

The coolermaster one is a solid plastic object. The one linked is a blue PCB between two 24 pin connectors.

Visually the CM product wins by far.

I think the reason it isn't a common practice is it risks interference with cases or other components in very tight builds. In the current common configuration other components like RAM will always stick up higher, so clearance is a non-issue.

The product has been around for ages (bar the caps), mostly on Chinese sites. This does have some downsides - the higher resistance means that the ATX24 pin connector may heat up more than usual when using it, so I'd advise not using SLI (esp not 3/4way) with it.
