Bethesda Continues to Struggle With Fallout 76, Refunds Now a Possibility

Apparently they have gone back on their word about giving people refunds... They're not offering refunds to people who have downloaded digital copies of the game.

Bethesda have also started bundling their fail game with blue yeti microphones at bestbuy...
without even having to add microtransactions to it.

Looks like Fallout 76 could be another ME: Andromeda, only in Andromeda there was something resembling content.

Fallout 3 wasn't brilliant IMO, I think it's just that a lot of people have a lot of nostalgia for what was a very successful transition of the series from a 2D isometric third-person tactical shooter to a first-person shooter.

Fair enough. Not everything is for everyone. I never liked the first 2D Fallout games(personally thought them to be rubbish), so everyone has their tastes.

I loved them. That and Aracanum, which nobody remembers. That game was something else.

* I may have considered a private co-op multiplayer Fallout game where I could potentially explore the wasteland with one or two close friends similar to how Far Cry 5 co-op works.

I'll cross fingers with you but the track record is not there to warrant it. I have been waiting for a long time and my heart sank when I read they were using creation. While I haven't played any games with idTech engine, it has to be better. At the least it visually looks better. Not sure when they bought idTech but they have had a looooooooong time to build ES6 from scratch. What was Skyrim - 2011,2012?

He and I are 99% in alignment. As I mentioned much earlier in the thread, I didn't hate it but I didn't exactly like it so far, with much of my hope centered around settlements. It has potential, but not if I negatively dwell on it day after day. I also put ~35 hours in and got my fill. Since my earlier post I've been playing Grim Dawn instead.

The first patch was a good albeit small step, and I hope they have many more. The upcoming patch with ultra-wide support might get me in for a couple more hours. But in the grand scheme... if FO76 doesn't climb out of its hole with substantial updates, I'll be waiting for Clints "revisit" videos in the future. He's done couple for SimCity, a game that still doesn't satisfy all these years later.

I love Bethesda, and I understand wanting to try something different, but don't do it with the same licenses/crowds. It's sad that they have to lose money to learn this though. They could have simply listened to their fans.

Agreed. I like Bethesda. Many of the games I own from GOG are titles from them and I really like that they actively support GOG as a distribution partner. I have at least a dozen of their games, if not more. They just dropped the ball on this one.

But let's be fair, this kind of game isn't for everyone and while the first release was sub-par, the recent patches have made strides to fix/improve the game.

Have they ever? People have been demanding a new engine for the game for what, a decade now? All we got is RNG ("Radient") quests and base-building ("settlement") simulator no one asked for.

As a developer, I want to give them credit but I don't know if they are above the threshold for being competent. That said, it is entirely possible that they have a fantastic development team but the constraints are all within management which leaves the dev team little to work with. I don't know so I won't judge.
