Is this offset patch using the latest Nvidia driver 417.35 only for identical cards in SLI, or does it still work with mismatched models of GPU?

I'm only doing identical. I can try to give out what I assume to be the right patch addresses for the other functions but since I don't have the means to test it, therefore there is no guarantee that it will work.

Page 116, I gave enough detail on how to patch it by hand.

Hello

I'm trying something with a friend of mine to use 2x GTX 570 on a non-SLI certified motherboard, We tried every step but it doesn't seem to work. probably because of the certificate not able to apply to install

See screenshot

We tried all the steps linked here
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-with-different-cards.158907/post-3886651

The copying of the file works, but not installing the certificate

So anyone knows any fixes, will it even work at all?

Did you update the C# code of DifferentSLI or did you patch the offsets of the .dll directly? If you patched manually then you don't need/shouldn't run DifferentSLI.

got it working, i guess that i did not save the file correctly after changing the ofsets, i opened the program to check, and it was with the original ofset.

working now on 417.35.

Thanks a lot Pretentious!

Unfortunately, tried all steps all over again, but it didn't work, copying works fine, but the certificate is not working, just the same thing as in the screenshot

EDIT, I now got it signed and the file has been copied, got the information from here
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/sli-with-different-cards.158907/post-3323103 with some edits in for the location
But no SLI option, unfortunately, is it just bad luck or a problem?

Hello All:

Issue:
  • After applying the patch, I still do not see the SLI option.
Scenario:
OS/Driver:
  • Win10 Build 1809 (Enterprise, 64bit, LTSC 2019, Build 17763.107).
  • NVIDIA Driver 417.35.
GPUs:
  • Two EVGA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 XC with EVGA NVLink Bridge.
My System:
  • HP Z640 Workstation with the HP 710325-002 Motherboard.
  • External 700W PwrSupply dedicated to only the two GPUs.
  • Stock PwrSupply to drive MoBo and other peripherals.
  • Single Intel Xeon E5-1650 V4.
  • 32GB DDR4.
  • 480GB SSD HyperX Savage.
Additional Info:
  • There are no PCIe devices on the PCIe2 slots.
    • 2 GPUs (x16 slots)
    • SAS Controller Card (x8 slot)
  • The MoBo has 3 PCIe Gen 3 slots, two x16 and one x8.
    • See attached: "MB_Topology.png".
  • The Intel CPU can support 40 PCIe Gen3 lanes - 16 * 2 + 8 = 40.
    • See attached: "CPU_Specs.png".

Any suggestions?

Thank you, in advance.

I can confirm that it MUST work with any motherboard since the feature is blocked at the software/driver level. Were you able to get it working with 1.7.1 and nvidia driver 380.x? I would first attempt to get it working with the older drive to make sure you're doing everything correctly, only then try to patch it manually with the latest driver version following my instructions.

DifferentAutoSLI 1.7.1 only works with driver 380, not 417.35. However, I am intrigued to see if you can get it working with NVLINK, I plan on getting some 20 series cards for machine learning tasks.
In order to use version 417.35 you need to patch the .dll manually using an Hex editor, I have some instructions on how to go about this a couple of pages back. You can't run DifferentSLI, you should only reuse/adapt the install.bat file to facilitate the installing and signing of the dll after the manual patch.

When I tell people to download DifferentAutoSLI 1.7.1 it's only to get the latest install.bat, not to run DifferentSLIAuto.

So 388.71 with the official DifferentAutoSLI also did not work? Do you happen to have a server/xeon motherboard by any chance?

EDIT: My motherboard has this weird quirk with the nvidia driver, each GPU gets its own version of the drive - Go to Device Manager, Display Adapters, right click each of your GPU's, properties, then click Driver Tab, Driver Details and search for nvlddmkm.sys.

Notice how each GPU has a different nvidia driver path, nvaki_inf_ vs nv_dispi.inf? If you have a similar setup then there's an extra step.

No, that didn't work, everything went fine but didn't work, i'm now gonna trying to do it manually
The motherboard is P7P55D with 2x GTX570, only the vendors are different

Please check the edit of my previous post ^, I thought it would be a Xeon only motherboard but you never know, you might be experiencing the same issue.

Yeah, that's the same thing on the screenshot

Nvaki, and nv_dispi

Great! There's the issue! Assuming that your nv_dispi has been modified by DifferentAutoSLI of version 380.71, copy it into the nvaki folder to replace the original nvlddmkm.sys (so that both dll for each driver are the same). You might want to boot into safe mode for the replacement to work correctly. Afterwards disable safe boot and restart then check if SLI is avaiable in the nvidia control app.

Let me know if it works.

I don't have the 380.71 drivers I tried to find it but nowhere to be found, The lowest I got is 381.xx then it goes further down to 379.xx etc etc etc

At the moment i'm in safe mode with no drivers installed, maybe trying the latest driver, or do you have the 380.71 driver

I believe 388.71 works with DifferentAutoSLI. Boot into normal mode, install 388.71, restart, make sure your drivers are working and then proceed to follow @P!nkpanther guide. The last step after following his guide would be to also replace nvaki_inf.

another member told that 388.71 indeed should work fine, but that didn't work with differentautosli, however I didn't try that extra step

Gonna do it all over again now, will let you know

It seems that it is not working, it seems it has something to do with the certificate, the driver says certificate is not digitally signed and could not verify

So the drivers won't start, I also did the extra step, maybe someone has a fully updated and working install.cmd? of course with the necessary adjustment needed on my side

If you want to give it a last try, use https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html to remove everything nvidia related, install 417.35, patch it manually and use this:

EDIT: You might have to change the numbers after "amd64_", I don't recall if the numbers are the same per version or if it changes between different machines. In any case as you can see that script takes care of nvaki automatically.

Steps:
0) Use DDU to remove all nvidia stuff
1) Install 417.35 and then restart
2) Download DifferentAutoSLI 1.7.1 and extract it to the Desktop (or anywhere)
3) Go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf......\ copy nvlddmkm.sys to your DifferentAutoSLI folder
4) Modify nvlddmkm.sys with some sort of hex editor using the offsets I shared
5) Save/Replace nvlddmkm.sys in the DifferentAutoSLI folder
6) Boot into safe mode
7) Run Install.bat (check if you need to modify the location)
8) Restart
9) Do some sort of fortnite dance and celebrate?

Patch it manually you mean add the Hex code you posted earlier, or just use the DifferenSLI auto?, 391.35 is latest for GTX 570

Oh I see, for 391.35 the offsets would be different.
I would have to find those for you. I am able to do it over the weekend but just in that case it would be better if you get it to work with 388.71 first.

In any case, the error you're getting its because you have multiple versions of the certificate installed. If you go inside the tools folder of DifferentAutoSLI there is an app called CertMgr. If you run it and go to TrustedRoot/ Trusted Publisher you're probably going to find multiple version of the DifferentAutoSLI certificate. You will need to remove/delete them (a quick googling should help with that; CertMgr might allow you to uninstall them from the interface if you run it as Admin). Once those extra certs are removed it the signing should be successful.
