The system requirements for 4A Games' Metro: Exodus, the studios' first open-world effort that comes with baked-in NVIDIA RTX support, have been outed. The minimum system requirements for 1080p gaming at 30 FPS uses the Low IQ settings, and should be achieved by an i5-4440 CPU, paired with a 2 GB VRAM graphics card (GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon HD 7870) and 8 GB of RAM.

For the Extreme IQ settings, at 4K 60 FPS, though, you'll require, obviously, a beast of a system. An Intel Core i9-9900K is the CPU of choice here, paired with 16 GB of RAM and the top of the line NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti. These requirements pressupose the absence of any RTX features, however, so prepare to see your maximum resolution with those features on coming down quickly as you scale the ray tracing capabilities. RTX-specific performance profiles will be released by 4A Games in the coming days.

Another piece of information regarding Metro: Exodus that has seen the light of day in recent times, however, is the games' usage of Denuvo. This has been a usual occurrence with publisher's Deep Silver's gaming offerings, though, so it really isn't that unexpected. But if you're one of those for whom the absence of DRM is important, you should take note.

For 1080p/extreme it makes sense but for high preset which is two steps below extreme preset in this title it's bullshit I think.

Seems legit, if I look at the heavier game scenes in older games such as Wildlands I can see my 1080 easily pop into the higher 60 FPS regions. And that is on a pretty damn efficient engine. But that is with all sliders blatantly set to ultra including that ridiculous draw distance. Not sure how Metro approaches the open world part of it, but as far as I know they're just separate maps/missions.

Another reason might be 8 GB VRAM and good bandwidth. And yet another one might be, that the gap between 1060 and 1070 is pretty significant.

Well, don't forget that original Metro 2033 was also extremely heavy on requirements, actually becoming an industry benchmark. Unfortunately, that also meant that it was inaccessible for many gamers and studio probably lost some income from worse equipped gamers dishearted by reviews back then. I actually played It years later, only after buying GTX970, 2016 or '17. Some dirt cheap sale reminded Me of this title. It would be a shame If They repeated the mistake, I hope They just posted those requirements with some "safety margin" and It will run fine in FHD on most popular GPUs.

The problem is that they're recommending an RTX 2060 or GTX 1070/Vega 56 for high preset which is not even second highest preset in this title.
Wildlands is a very demanding title on max settings but even a GTX 1060 can run it at 1080p60 on high preset.
But this isn't the main issue I guess;
If an RTX 2080Ti is capable of running it on extreme settings at 4K why wouldn't a 1070 be able to do it at 1080p?

Not sure but there is a distinct difference between 'can run 1080p60' and being able to hold that FPS consistently; and another thing is that just because they built some uber expensive settings doesn't automatically mean its worth running it at those settings. I agree though, the shift in spec requirements at 1080p is not as you would expect, but resolution and performance also don't scale in a linear way. Some things just need to be rendered and take a specific amount of horsepower; while many tricks can be deployed to make it easier on higher resolutions. Such as upscaling or a lower internal render res.

That said it may well be off the mark, but in my experience, if you want a smooth ride, best be on the higher end of the scale with your specs. And Metro has proven that very well...

Also keep in mind its an Nvidia sponsored title. They benefit from recommending high end GPUs. The fact that extreme only runs well on a 2080ti is telling, why would a dev waste time on that.

Wonder if 4K at 60FPS means 4K at 30FPS on a 2080 Ti with RTX on, DLSS may help with that, considering BFV is about to receive a patch that will add DLSS and allow gameplay at 4K at much higher frame rates.

If previous Metro titles releases are any indication, this game will be a system killer, we might only see good frame rates using global illumination ray tracing on the most high end cards, or even next gen cards...

Why did they list a 1080 ti instead of a 1080 for 1440p 60 fps when the 2070 and Vega 64 are right at 1080 level performance? I guess we'll have to wait for the benchmarks, but I have a hard time believing the 1440p results are going to be more than 10% different between the 2070, V64, and 1080, and the 1080 ti is going to be off with the 2080, in between that cluster and the 2080 ti.

No Ryzen love? Eehh, my 2700X will run it just as well as 9900K can. But my 570 may struggle lol... Hopefully I can get decent FPS on mixed ultra/high. As long as it's over 40fps I'm good.

Eh, so my fellow compatriots decided to go denuvo? I hope not because unconfidence in title's quality....

I think because of nvidia heavy sponsorship, 1080 ti's gonna be dumped to 2070 level, if not worse.....

Yeah, but this is "high" settings. Not "ultra" and not "extreme".

Fine, I'll wait until a GoG sale. Legitimately good games do not need that garbage.

I don't want to crack the game, I want to buy it. But also OWN it, not effectively rent it until the devs decide to end support and the game becomes instantly unplayable.
Hence my like to the suggestion to wait for GOG. Even though I know I won't have the time to play it.

Historically, AMD chews through Metro easier. It's a very graphically intensive game that's actually polished. AMD accels in that area. But, being nvidia bribed, it's suspicious lol. Good async support easily tips the balance (idk if it's included though).
