will it play crysis.. he he

Yeah Crysis 1 is still one of my favourite games if not is!

On my 4k TV running a 1080 Ti I have to create a custom res so it doesn't cap frame rate to 30hz/30fps or was it 24.. cant remember..

3840 x 2160 is 4k so I make a custom res in Nvidia control panel 3839 x 2160 and apply. I can now go into the game and pick that res and it butter smooth at 60Hz/60 fps.

Try some custom resolutions and see how you go. It works for me : ) Happy Days.

I recently played Crysis and it played DX 10 just fine until the battle on the carrier... From there I put it on DX9 and it was fine again...

Yep thats exactly what I remember! did you fall through the carrier into the water like I did many times in DX10? ( I played it with my 2x4870X2s)

I think there is a in game benchmark in the install files as well that people can run (Think it goes 3 times) to see what FPS your getting

I bought it too, 9.99€. Finished before Crysis 1 twice, Crysis 2 once, but never played Warhead. Are we doing some benchmarks or what?

I had black screen on start. THIS FIXED IT.

you should not buy it. Its limited on how much os reinstall you can open it. crisis and warhead are not opening because of there cd key services down and whit no internet they not open and it's not updated for years there are tons of bugs. I don't like EA style games, and there system requirements to big. their developers are idiots.

with crysis one my own experience was total lag.. i stood on the beach with few a bolders and the ocean on screen.. swiping the mouse from side to side just produced a jerky movement this was with around 140 fps showing..

i tried lots of things.. lowering the settings and anything i could think of.. nothing stopped the jerkiness.. i did a bit of googling and found a few things out..

i then slowed my 2080ti card down as much as i could and framed capped it to 60 fps.. the frame capping dosnt seem to work that well if the fps is too high in the first place..

ether way.. i now have a smooth running very pretty crisis one at 60 fps.. my conclusion was that my 8700k running just a single thread could not keep up with crysis at 140 plus frames per second.. crysis was dreamed up back in the single thread P4 days and graphics cards that couldnt really handle it..

my 2080ti card is now running at a max power setting of 50%.. half power in essence.. it was the only way i could get crysis one to run smoothly.. my 8700k running just a single thread can manage crysisi at 60 fps but not 140 fps..

Sorry but this does not make sense. I played Crysis 1 on a 3570K @ 4.2 with a Gtx 770 at a butter smooth 60 fixed FPS. You should easily be able to keep it stable at much higher FPS with that rig.

When I get back home Ill fire it up as well, we have an identical CPU setup ;)

It's true, Crysis bogs down even on the absolute fastest CPUs. It's not a lack of power but rather the engine was never intended to run on efficiently on so many threads back then.

This problem is related to hdmi support, i remember it having the same problem on hd6850/hd7790. To fix it i had to force 60hz otherwise game was for some reason switching screen into 24hz mode.

It is my tradition to play Crysis 1 or warhead at least once a year, and it has not stopped since they came out :)
The game is single threaded, you can crank the settings up the wazoo and it won't make a bloody difference to the framerate
I usually get around 45-70 in open areas depending on a location.

it didnt make sense to me.. i just did what i had to do to get it running smoothly.. since writing about it i have upped my frame rate cap to 70 fps.. i could maybe go higher but flat out it just turns in a jerky mess when quick mouse movements are applied..

Definitely gonna try this! To be continued...

i can reproduce the jerky mess at will so i am pretty sure i am correct about what is happening.. an 8700K running a single thread which is all crysis is built to do cant keep up with a 2080ti at 1080 p which is the max resolution crysis let you choose.. he he..

That's just how the game runs.

yes one of the things my googling produced and one of the things that helped me figure out exactly what was going on.. :)

dx9 game looks better than 75% of DX 11 12

Hm! Did you try setting a 4K DSR yet?

i am not entirely sure how to do that.. i just used the resolution settings the games gave me..

for reasons still unknown to me my frame rate cap dosnt also work.. when it dosnt the jerkiness instantly kicks in.. this just backs up my reasoning..

Set it up in NV control panel and it should appear in game settings as a res you can choose.

Scroll the resolutions, it let me set 3440X1440.

call me dumb but i never notice the little scroll bar.. i just assumed that what you could see was what you got.. he he..

running at 4K now.. still at 50% power and i am getting a smooth 70 odd frames per second with no frame capping.. the games look even prettier.. at 1440 i still got the jerkiness..

thanks for that..

Visually futuristic and impressive game with good physics also but not optimised for future hardware at all. Its single threaded game engine made it run very bad in many hardware combos since then.

"Can it run Crysis"? No sir, no it can't. Just bought and downloaded from Steam and after clicking to start the game I get a blank screen and then it ctd :( read there are similar issues with AMD users, anyone experience the same?

Don't know if it is the same issue, but check Here

I have it working, had to download a bin64 folder as Steam didn't download the x64 version, an additional Crysis.exe and integrate them into the steam app folder for Crysis, nice job.

that does sound like the same issue.. having said that it runs on my windows 10 latest edition.. no black screen..

i am now a few hours into it and have slaughtered more north koreans than i can count.. zillions of the little buggers.. :)

ps.. i was writing while you posted.. glad you have it sorted..
