In a case of "Oops, we didn't mean to", DICE's update notes for Battlefield V came out at least a day before they were supposed to. While DICE quickly took to social media to mention these update notes were not necessarily final, everyone was quick to notice that the PC-specific improvements section listed NVIDIA DLSS support being added on February 25. We were able to take a look at DLSS in action on Battlefield V at the NVIDIA suite during CES 2019, and it made a vast difference in overall performance and graphics alike, especially since we could now turn on NVIDIA RTX and not get a massive decrease in average framerate.

Jaqub Ajmal, a producer at DICE for the game soon tweeted to clarify that the company is still working on this implementation, and does not actually have a set date yet. It may well be that the actual update notes that go out tomorrow (still Feb 11 in North America at the time of posting) may well have something else instead. Regardless of whether this happens Feb 25 or not, we here at TechPowerUp will take a closer look at DLSS and in-game effects, so be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on DLSS coming to game titles and your expectations for the future.

I hope the DXR performance improvements do not come at the cost of further quality reduction.

But then again, when you read "improve game performance while maintaining visual quality" about DLSS, you begin to understand that someone has a very loose conception of what "maintain" means...

That's awesome! Can't wait to try this new patch, hope more developers are taking note of this and begin taking advantage of DLSS :rockout:

Yeah please rid the world of forced TAA.

RE2 I think would be a good qualifier. The game is too shimmery on anything but TAA, I'd like to see what DLSS could do for it.

But the real question is, does DLSS remove the 'Patrick Soderlundiness' and the faint smell of sulfur you smell, when playing an EA title, from this game?

? Looks fine with SMAA to me. TAA is like being wasted and trying to play a game. Can't see anything clearly.

Wut? and he doesn't work at EA anymore.

Right? because that instantly fixes this debacle he worked on for years.

Time to check out Anthem...

I think everyone can breathe a little better with Sod-ur-land removing himself from the company... anyways, DLSS may have a proper implementation this time around, not like how it was used in FF15 PC Version's demo. TAA in my opinion isn't always the better option coz of all the shimmering. SMAA is the more better method & doesn't tax your GPU that much like MSAA while retaining decent overall image quality.

Yeah Anthem is trash but what did "title from this game" mean? You mean battlefield series? Do you completely boycott titles because of exemployees?
I like BFV more than BF1. There is no Premium pass this time. The only real complaint I have about BFV is the lack of included features that other games had like Hardcore and team autobalance after rounds. I do wish they would have scrapped the BR mode long ago and put those efforts into more and better map designs.
Boycotting because of an exemployee and not the actual games themselves.. I feel like people that see rationality in that also see rationality in review bombing older titles over the issues of unreleased ones.

I would agree I like SMAA the most as long as the shimmer isn't too bad. TAA is just the only setting in RE2 that alleviates it enough for me but its still too soft really. I hope DLSS finds its way into many games.

Where in anything I said, did I say 'Boycott'? Or that Anthem is trash? Or are you just reading what you want to see so you can trigger yourself?

I don't boycott EA - I buy their stuff all the time - I just made an EA joke (smell of sulfur as in - there are demons in the room with you) as EA tend to buy up /build up and then dumpster great IPs that i like (Mass Effect, Command & Conquer, Star Wars, Wing Commander, Ultima and now Battlefield) - so that when I do buy their new stuff - I just get a dirty feeling when for the above mentioned reason. They have some great titles, this is not one of them - it's boring, it's not historically accurate for all the wrong reasons (soderlund), and it's not really finished (probably also soderlund). It's too bad this is the title they chose to get all the new flashy tech.

again, the problem lies with the management & publishers, never the devs who worked their ass off to keep the deadline on time. New features are nothing to be afraid of. Tech always advances, there's no stopping it.
