AMD cut pricing of the Radeon RX Vega 56 in select markets to preempt the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, and help the market digest inventory. The card can be had for as little as €269 (including VAT) for an MSI RX Vega 56 Air Boost, which is a close-to-reference product. The GTX 1660 Ti reportedly has a starting price of $279.99 (excluding taxes). This development is significant given that the GTX 1660 Ti is rumored to perform on-par with the GTX 1070, which the RX Vega 56 outperforms. The RX Vega series is still very much a part of AMD's product stack, and AMD continues to release new game optimizations for the card. NVIDIA is expected to launch the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti within February. Although based on the "Turing" architecture, it lacks real-time raytracing and AI acceleration features, yet retains the increased IPC of CUDA cores from the new generation.

This is a great deal considering you can undervolt and o/c and comes with a 3 game bundle. People like to bitch about anything.
Ps for you people complaining about the noise or w/e there ARE 3rd party cooling solutions.

Not meaning to provoke anyone, but my Vega 64 cost me $300 USD + $100 for a wb. Flashed with Liquid BIOS and performs like a Radeon VII with some tweaking. Still a lot of value to be had in the AMD camp.

Hot? No.

Sure, I'll give you that one.

At least undervolting is there to solve both problems.
It is noticeably louder than other cards in order to tie for first spot in temperature. That's the very definition of hot.

Undervolting is ok, but it won't work on all cards. If it did, AMD would have done that themselves. Plus, what % of users undervolt?

A 270-280 EUR Vega56 with 3 AAA games? That's a very nice move. And NV is releasing a 6GB 1070 for 280 EUR (maybe more) with 0 or maximum 1 game. LOL. Makes the RX590 totally obsolete too.

I have read some forum posts, and I saw nobody saying UV hasn't worked at all. Why is it a question what % of users use UV? It is there, you can use it. It requires you to watch some YT videos to see what values to use, and you can tune it in driver menu. No need for 3rd party softwares.

Maybe this is an indication that the 1660Ti will be a good card, who knows...

But, unless these discounts apply to decent custom models, I don't see many people buying reference Vega cards ...

Well current statistics on Mindfactory say over 2200 sold and 4439 people having it on their watch list. I think that's decent.

Anyone here has the MSI RX Vega 56 Air Boost? How much better (less noisier) than the reference cooler?

Or maybe not.

Nvidia confessed that gsync is a lie and announced supporting freesync before the launch of Vega ll, then it appeared that Vega ll wasn't good enough

You have a link to prove that about GSync? I don't like it because it's proprietary, but as far as I have read, the complaint was about FreeSync and how not having any requirements for supported refresh rates results in monitors that have practically unusable FreeSync implementations, but can still tick the feature on the box.

@btarunr why on EARTH would you post prices in euros then compare them to prices in dollars? Choose one or the other and stick to it, other the comparison makes no sense.

For everyone else wondering, €269 = ~$300 USD.

there ARE 3rd party cooling solutions

Which cost additional money, FFS. If you pay $300 for a card and then buy a $50 cooler to make it behave, you spent $350 for the card in total... or you could just buy a faster card with a cooler that isn't dog s**t.

performs like a Radeon VII with some tweaking

Uh, yeah, no.

Well yes that is $300 with 19% VAT in Germany. To calculate starting price for gtx1660ti it makes it cost $280 -> 246.50€*1.19 = 293€ VAT19. Why I say starting price, I.E. current start price for RTX 2060 in Germany is 340€ VAT19, which is way lower than Nvidia's MSRP for that card(369€ VAT19). So I don't really believe 1660ti sells well on that high price.

269€ for Vega⁵⁶ is a very good price, though I would rather put 40€ more and buy Gigabyte's version of that card. Competition makes wonderful things for prices that's for sure.
