Halo: The Master Chief Collection PC Version Announcement Incoming?

I am an assumed, and unabashedly proud, Halo fan, so yes, I believe the fact that the games' definitive (but by no means complete) The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC is a very important matter. The Halo series' efforts on the PC have been extremely lackluster, until now, barring the excellent Halo Wars 2 (in terms of how it runs and its PC-centric features; not talking about the game per se). Now, rumors of Microsoft being hard at work with porting the game to the PC platform have gained substantial traction, as Brad Sams, a tech journalist whose track record with Microsoft leaks has been notable, said that "Microsoft's open secret is that they've been working on the Master Chief Collection for the PC, and I'm hearing that that's getting close to release."

This "getting close to release" plays well into the upcoming E3 event, starting July 11th. The Master Chief Collection's release (and for wow factor, immediate availability) during the show would be an amazing way for Microsoft to market the Halo saga's true PC vision come to life. This would pave the way for a later Halo 5: Guardians release and the already-announced-for-PC Halo infinite, which is expected only with the next generation of consoles.

Bad timings. Probably just gave up on the idea of HALO for PC (at least until now).
Combat Evolved was the only truly successful PC port. Then MS tried using Halo 2 as a carriage horse for Vista, and we all know how well did that go (for both). After that it's just scraps (read: Halo Wars 2 for $60 nearly 2 years after release).

I was never really big on Halo series. Only got the first one with my trash-built original XBox many-many moons ago, and played Halo 2 demo.

Ya I used to play Halo 1 a ton - CTF constantly, can't even imagine how many hours I played that game. I've been wanting Halo 3, 4, and 5 to come to PC so bad for so long.

Question for folks in general as I don't follow XBOX gaming, Microsoft, etc. - when they sell PC games would they sell them on a platform like Steam or something else?

Also just a side question as well - is there a reason Halo 5 wouldn't be part of it as well?

Finally. This is something I have wanted for years (stupid platform exclusivity bullshit) and I really wont care if this will be MS Store only.
Purely for singleplayer campaigns, 4 games (maybe soon 5) for a price of one = a good deal.

It came out in 2007 but it was a Vista exclusive. MS claimed that DX10 was required to run it as the reason it would only be for Vista and not XP. That didn't make much sense at the time and it was disappointing to me after having played Halo: CE because Halo 2 released in 2004 for XBox only and was in development for a couple of years before that. XP had only recently been released when the Halo 2 project began and Vista and DX10 were a long way off.

If you buy Halo 2 on disk then you may have some trouble trying to install and play it on Windows 10. Better look into it before spending money.

I love(d) Halo. Fun sci-fi setting and awesome storyline. If this comes out for PC it will be an instant buy for me, please make it happen Microsoft.

I also read some of the Halo books, they are great. Fall of Reach is my favourite.

I haven't bought a boxed game in a long time so I don't know if this is true or not but I've heard that Windows 10 won't even allow you to install old games from disk that have certain types of DRM on them. Have you encountered anything like that?

I have heard about it but not seen it personally. The Halo2/Vista compatibility mode works as I've done it in Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

On the Xbox it includes 1-4, and you can add ODST for $5.

I hope this is true I'm still miffed about how combat evolved anniversary didn't come to pc and also m$ better not make a too faithful port bringing all the bugs associated with the console version to pc ala copy - paste
