I have the U12s on my OC 8600k and it holds my CPU under 60c while gaming

I was expecting this with my new cooler as well... :ohwell: What are your ambient temps? Are you running your fans at full speed during gaming?

My CPU is only running at 4.3Ghz with very low voltage.

My PC is in my basement office so temps are low to mid 60s F. Fans speed is set to medium in my motherboard and I think I have 1.2v CPU setting, off the top of my head.

The "max" values are from playing GTA V:

(Note: I have 2 more fans controlled by fan controller running at medium speed)

No problems here, move on. :) You have 800 rpm left in your CPU cooler if it is the PMW version you have.

65C max is absolutely fine, you have 10-15c extra on top and would still be fine imo

I have one noctua 120mm 2000rpm CPU fan swapped for a scythe 140mm 1300rpm PWM, (low noise) not sure which is which CPU fan screenshots, the 2 CPU fans are connected near each other on the motherboard, I believe it says "CPU 1" and "CPU 2" on the motherboard but it only shows 1 "CPU" fan in the screenshot.

That’s because they typically mimic one another. Whatever 1 does, 2 copies.

1 "CPU" fan on my motherboard must be a "chassis fan" knowing how many fans I have in my rig.

Considering your ambient temp is that low, I would consider your temperature under load as too high.
In my opinion it should remain under 60C, unless there is that much difference in Gen's of CPU's, as my old 3570K overclocked to 4.2GHz at stock voltage run at most 83C (full load) with an ambient temp of 30C and humidity around 90%.

Thats what I was thinking as well, especially considering that I'm using a 7-heatpipe high-end cooler.

In the past I used Asus AI Suite on windows 8.1 but it stopped working after some windows update and could not use it anymore, they only made a newer version for windows 10 after that.
I'm on windows 10 now for some months and I searched on the internet yesterday, downloaded and installed the latest Asus AI Suite 3 for windows 10.

At the moment(today) I have my system stays very quiet with CPU temp up to 65 C, the warmer weather is coming soon but now I can control the fan curves from within windows with Asus AI Suite 3.:)
I'm sure when the fans are running at higher speeds the temps will go down some more.

Do you have the power saving features turned off on the CPU? I only ask, because in the screnshot of HWMonitor it looks like the CPU is not downclocking when idle.

You might not have to delid. Grab a straight edge and check your IHS and make sure its not convex. You might be able to get away with a quick lap job. Delidding isn't going to help you at all if you can spin your CPU on its IHS like a top.

Each to their own, but i see more rigs with an aio now than an air cooler.

I still see more rigs using stock and call it a day.

How is the noise level at max speed? (CPU fans only). I just bought two of those fans.

I think its because its trendy now a days. The Corsair feed on my facebook is a perfect example. Confusing prettiness and disco lights with high performance. Some people aren't comfortable with having a big heavy cooler hanging off the board, even though its perfectly fine as long as everything is tight like it should be. I used to roll with an H100 with 4 120x38s, and I still prefer my True Spirit 140 Power, and Le Grand Macho RT.

I think an aio looks better, makes the MB socket area look tidier, makes it easier to switch ram out if you have a mahoosive air cooler, and is always going to be more efficient and can be quieter than a air cooler. PC owners make their own choice, none of them are wrong it is up to you. I am not a great fan(no pun intended) of the RBG trend now, ffs why do they have to put LED's on everything, ok if you are 12 but I am 50 and to me it looks childish.

Sure it looks a little neater around the socket, and depending on the cooler, you will have issues with ram, luckily not either of mine. I used that H100 for 5 years, still don't miss it :D

I don't think an AIO can ever be as efficient as an air cooler, especially if the pump isn't running, and no chance of it being quieter, and still be able to cool as well as one of my Thermalrights..

But I've been wrong before, and it will probably happen again.

Your temps do seem kinda high my brothers 6700k with a corsair h60i (2018 ver.) tops out in the 45c-50c range paying Battlefield 1 at 23/24c ambient with a 4.4ghz OC.

He has a 1080 ti SC2 hybrid and he plays with an uncapped framerate on a 1080p/144hz monitor. I'm pretty sure his cpu is being driven harder than yours. His case is well ventilated though, he runs 4X 120mm fans at 100% while he games.

Now that I think about it though depending on how much hot air your gpu is dumping into the case and how good your airflow is 60c may not be that bad.

I'm not sure about the 600 performs but the 601 isn't really know for it's cooling performance your bottleneck may be the case not the cooler.

I can't believe this thread is still going on...

There is nothing wrong with your cooler. There is something wrong with your CPU and the way in which it makes contact with the IHS. It may also be curved/convex as mentioned above, which won't help even more.

Delidding a CPU has netted upwards of 20c in most cases that I've dealt with, and in extreme cases up to 30c. I'm really struggling to see why everyone thinks the cooler is at fault here. Have you all been living under a rock and don't know that Intel doesn't have the best mount between the die and IHS, and that's why the paste is having to pick up some of the slack? Come on...

Case and point: my RAM test bench currently runs a 6700K on a Z170M OC Formula. Pre-delid, I was unable to even pass stress testing at 4.6 without ridiculous temps (north of 95c). Post delid, I am running at 4.8 with temps in the mid to upper 70s, occasionally touching into the low 80s. Oh, and that's running on a Thermalright Venemous X with a single 1700 RPM Noctua Redux fan ... not exactly a modern cooler!

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
I just can't take the risk, prefer air cooled.
For 99 eur i would have got a aio.
What risk? some have 5 year warranty, they very rarely leak
i fully concurre .... even tho i hate Corsair ... i have even more for Noctua ...

so even if not going AIO (no risk ... my H115i is running since i got it during a black Friday sale, and quite more than a "just a few hours a day" ) there could have been more choice than Noctua
they are the best? not anymore since long,
they offer extra long warranty? probably for a reason,
do they are priced adequately to the concurrent? certainly not...
does the performance difference justify the overprice? what performance? if any they have +1 but more often -x over the rest of the pack they shadow with their price ...

they have their fans (no pun intended) who probably think "if i pay more it's definitively better" (a bit like Apple fans probably ) brand loyalty is good sometime (for the brand)

Noctua get overly recommended and most people think it's the only choice to go with ..

now about the temps ... well probably a seating problem (although ... it's a 6700K, isn't it notorious for overheating because of the IHS-DIE TIM?)

I'm slightly dissapointed in the temps I'm seeing with this 99 EUR cooler.
well that's because it's not worth 99€ while concurrent can do the same with 45-50€ (i.e.: Thermalright with the HR-02 Macho rev.B single fan... ok a tad bigger but worth way above his price and completely silent at 1300rpm )

In my experience the better coolers don't keep the highest temps all that much lower but they do keep you from going too high for a longer amount time under full load.
I don't see anything wrong with your temps.

The rest of this post is my opinion and doesn't mean anything to anyone else as everyone has their own reasons and personal tastes.

I can say however that I don't like your case even a little.
It looks like a case I had 13 years ago...big heavy quiet oven.
I have since given up on CD-ROM/Bluray/Fan controllers and even 3.5" card readers top front internal bays.
I have also given up on internal 3.5" hdd bays in lieu of room for more fans or water cooling spots or simply a smaller better performing case.
I really do think you are at optimal or very close to it in that case.
You got that case for whatever reasons you have/had and one of the consequences of that is your temps.....that aren't bad at all.
