Cooler Master Launches the new V Gold Series Power Supply Units

Cooler Master, a global leader in PC component manufacturing, today, announced the availability of the new V Gold power supply unit (PSU), providing a new and improved series of PSUs for the next generation of high-end PC builders.

After five years, the V Gold succeeds Cooler Master's previously launched V Series PSU and will offer users an 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating. Available in the US and Canada in two wattage levels, 650W and 750W, the new V Gold PSU features a semi-fanless mode that enables the 135mm fan at 40% load. Users can manually de-activate the semi-fanless mode via the hybrid switch located at the rear of the PSU.

In the trifecta of looks/cost/performance I only care about the last two, so the ability to swap cables means nothing to me. Hence I'd happily pay $10 - $20 less for a PSU with some fixed cables (you need at least the mobo 24-pin, EPS 8-pin, and a chain of SATA).

Taking of capacitors, I just bought 5x MLP383M016EB1C to mod my Seasonic PSU. I'm a little disappointed as I got the wrong ones, it' should have been the "A" version which has the tabs to mount it onto the chassis. ..Very impressive ESR.

They're on again, just not with OklahomaWolf, sadly (although if he actually do publishes a book it'l be worth the read, he's a great writer). And no, they're not. Crap doesn't come with a 10 year warranty. And the "old" V didn't have Gold in the name, so there is some slight distinction to the name.

Yeah it's not the best nor the worst oem out there, I would rather take well build enhance over fsp or sirfa. Though this one is obviously not Enhance made, it missing that signature y-shaped heatsink and green primary filtering caps. Might be Seasonic but there's no picture of full pcb layout so can't say sure.

Proof it's going to happen. ESR bottom left reading & second ESR metre is used to confirm readings. I'm also testing at the worse point for ESR reading.

For you maybe, a lot of people care about cable management. With a PSU that has fully modular cabling you only install what you need thus keeping things neat and clean.

I wouldn't be, actually. I am (was) an LN2 overclocker pushing the limits. Doing something like that on a power supply platform that is already awesome really yields little tangible gains, even with LN2 overclocking. Now if it was a midrange unit or a potato, I would get it.
