You're very welcome. I build PC's for a living, frequently for Home Theater usage. I can appreciate a well thought out and quality built system. @crazyeyesreaper is not known for candy-coating his reviews. For this system to be given the TPU Innovation Award is high praise(and seems well earned), even with the complaints, which not everyone would be effected by or care about.


Is a blower style needed? The clearances look(based on pictures) like they would be good for a dual slot, dual fan model. I presume that has been tested. How would the internal case temps be effected?

Considering the temps I saw in the 80'C range for the CPU as is under load my guess is a card thats dumping heat inside could very likely depending on the climate trigger thermal throttling. I test at 20-22C. Warmer climates will likely do worse. Same goes for a system inside an entertainment center unless the cabinet is setup to expel or bring in fresh cooler air. Blower style makes sense here because no matter the ambient temp the cards heat is being exhausted rather than allowed to build up.

This. We designed ERA to work with open cooler cards too and can even fit the EVGA triple-slot models comfortably. Upsides are a completely quiet system in idle and low loads (graphics cards fans fully shut off) and also less peak noise during max gaming performance. However it leads to an increase in chassis and CPU temperatures which is why we don't recommend it for the configuration reviewed (9700K + 2080 Ti + GPU OC). We do use open cooler cards for lower-specced ERAs though.

Makes sense obviously lower spec card means lower TDP, less heat dumped inside and less of a problem. Something like a 2080 Ti that is a lot of heat especially with an OC your looking at 250-300-watts. Which doesnt not bode well for the slim cooler and and slim 140 fan for CPU cooling. Common sense dictates in that situation get the heat out.

I wonder if a system exhaust blower that would normally fit in an expantion slot would help, but we're back to a blower... I've done this in a SiverStone HTPC case and think it might work with this one..

But then you loose the Ryzen option..

The CPU cooling idea is totally wrong. It needs to be put away like laptops do and not dump heat into the case. You can use top and bottom cutout, so use push pull for cpu config. Use shrouds to isolate, thus dust will not enter the system. You can order any heatpipe mesh these days. And slap any additional heatpipes to it for the VRM. Just like in laptops. But unlike there, you have so much unused space and holes.

Same applies to the GPU. Use triple setup and dump the heat sideways. So much more space and less restriction. Temps will be lower, thus more silent.

Thanks for sharing! The top fan is actually configured in pull and is blowing out to the top. Thus, all components including CPU, memory, and motherboard VRMs are getting cooled with fresh air from the side. The top fan sits only 0.5 mm above the CPU cooler which makes a shroud etc. not necessary.
